Pain creeping back after surgery...possible stones?

Hi all, yet another gallstone sufferer here. I had my gallbladder out about 8 weeks ago after years of suffering. I was really anxious about the effects afterwards because I heard so many dreadful stories. But I was actually very surprised (as was my surgeon) at how well I coped afterwards. No pain, no change in digestion, was able to eat pretty much anything. Great.

Upon follow-up with my doctor he said my blood tests showed decreased liver function which was a possible sign of stones being left behind in the common bile duct. He said it's unlikely but just to be sure sent me for an MRCP, which showed everything was normal and clear.

However just a few days ago the pain started creeping back . It feels similar to gallbladder pain (same spot) but much less intense. I'd say it's about a 4-5/10. Not very painful but just discomforting and tight. It happens after I eat something fatty, so it seems to be related to bile duct function. Before this started I was able to eat anything after my surgery, including fish, veggies cooked in oil, nuts etc. Now if I eat these things I feel like I'm having gallbladder discomfort which stretches up to my chest.

My biggest worry is that I've suddenly formed a new stone in my bile ducts which was either not present or picked up by the MRCP imaging. I am showing no signs of blockage yet. Stools are normal, no jaundice. Although I have started getting a few acne spots on my neck and chin which in my experience has always been related with gallbladder and liver problems. What can I do for now?

Hi sorry your suffering, easeup on the fatty foods see if that helps relax the pain but also ask for a scan to be done again see if anything shows up & don't be afraid to keep asking

My doc said this due to adhesions.

Hi, sorry your having problems but don't forget its only been 8 weeks and you've had major surgery. Your body needs to take alot longer to heal on the inside than outside, it'll take months fo feel back to normal from what I've heard from others. I'm about 10 weeks post op.

As someone has already said, be careful with your diet and don't have too much fat.

I've got to have a stomach emptying test as I'm still having some problems and my consultant believes as my gallbladder wasn't working properly hence so my stomach may be a bit sluggish too.

You probably just need time to heal, perhaps you've done too much too soon and your body is just reacting to this. Take care with food and don't overstretch your insides to much by doing too much.

Let me know how you get on, take care
