I had my left hip replaced 3 years ago. I have had pain in my femur most of the time. it is anywhere from a dull ache to full blown pain and I can barely walk. x ray's look fine, the dr. finally ordered a bone scan, pacifying me. I have heard that sometimes the stem needs replaced. is there anyone else who has experienced this? what was your outcome?
Dear Carl I'm so sorry to hear this. Something is very wrong and you need to push until it is sorted out.
I suspect that the stem is not well fitted and that a revision will be needed but suggest that it may be time to find a different surgeon from a different hospital very experienced in hip revision surgery.
