Pain in groin

I am having sharp pains in my groin. I bent down to pick up something . 12 days post op Should I be worried?

See how it goes rutha, it may settle down in a day in two. The day after my hip op I dropped a tissue and without thinking bent down to pick it up. A nurse happened to be passing and told me off. It is automatic, we do not always think.

Is it hurting all the time?

I’d get it checked out and ‘do as you’re told!’  First few weeks really important No bending down at all. Use a litter picker thing please!

I pulled my groin slightly during the first few days home, just by moving a little awkwardly in bed but it settled down very quickly. It is hard not to do things automatically. You have to concentrate on not bending etc. My surgeon told me that little niggles were nothing to worry about and you would know all about it if you had done some real damage.

Remember the dislocation risk ...

Trouble is, we all forget.  I was also told off a couple of weeks ago for sitting too far forward... breaking the 90 degree rule.

It depends on which approach your surgeon used, Anterior or Posterior.  Posterior they are a little more careful of because the risk of dislocation is a little higher.  Anterior they are not AS concerned.  I agree with Marion that if you had dislocation, you would probably know it right away.  But.....if it doesn't go away within a few days, or at least ease up quite a bit, I would check it out.  I have now had both hips done the Anterior way.  The 1st one a couple of years ago and when I was getting into our Van from the hospital I felt a distinctive 'pop' in my groin area.  My H went to get the nurse and she said not to worry about it but it scared the you know what out of me!  Ended up to be just fine after a few days.  Let us know how it's going!
