Pain in hip when raising leg

I am 9 months out from THR and this morning I tried raising my leg - as I have done for weeks - to prop my foot on the ottoman.  I had a severe pain in my hip joint and it felt like something had rotated.  I have been having pain in the groin muscles for a few weeks also.  I’m not in pain right now but I have a call in to the doctor.

has anyone experienced this?

Thank you!

I had first hip replacement 13 months ago and recently 2 weeks ago other hip replacement it's common to get these pains I get them on first hip after 13 months but pain is slightly no problems still take pain killers I'm fine one day then different next it's life

Ive had that a few times before... and consultant said its just reminding you its not a real hip... in otherwards you moving it in a way it does not like.. and if you do noy its sore x

X-rays do wonders

True when I exercise stretching legs can feel popping sounds but remember it's a new hip so just take care

Hi Linda:  I had a partial hip replacement on 12/10/2016 so its been a year and 3 mos.  Some days i am fine and other days my thigh muscle hurst like a tightening.  Then the next day, itll be fine.   It aches when i do a lot of raking outside or if my grandkids sit on my lap.   I use to get groin pain and occasionally still do.  Its so weird.  I am 74 years old and have always been active.   I work part time in an office and today i had no pain.  I started thinking maybe i should always wear shoes which i never do at home.   Wondering if that could be the cause of the thigh pain.   I dont know.  They say it takes a year for all the nerves and muscles to get reacquainted with each other.  Its day to day.  I don't like to take tylenol so i really dont unless im going out and it bothers me.  Hope this helps you.

Hi Linda

Smart move to check with the doctor.

I get this pain every now and then if I do too much or sleep awkwardly.  Just a reminder that it is a hip replacement.

All the best

Linda, I am 12 months post partial hip replacement. At about the 5th month I was able to do leg raises with no problem. Then 2 mos ago I started having pain doing them. I saw a new surgeon during that time and he sent

me straight to PT. Dr and PT said it was an inflamed Posas muscle. Apparently I did that trying to build muscle strength in my glutes. My pain would come and go too. Stop doing whatever causes the pain. I'm 3 weeks in to not doing any Posas stretches and it's helping to stop doing them. That severe pain you had - go get checked!!
