Pain in leg following surgery

Hi everyone, I am now coming up to 9 weeks following a posterior and anterior repair. All gone well really, usual worries regarding recovery rate, swelling , discharge etc but all settled nicely now. Except I have been left with a pain in my right leg starting just below the back of my knee and it goes up into my thigh at the back. Sitting is very painful. I have no swelling , blotches or hard lumps so dont think its dvt. Any ideas anyone ?

It could be positional following your surgery. Your legs are put into lithotomy poles so pain that you describe is quite common even 9 weeks later. During your surgery your pelvic floor will have been pulled and pushed as well.

Sounds like a trapped nerve like Sciatica. I get Sciatica from time to time. It is a nerve in your back/spine. I could be wrong but sounds a nerve problem. Ibrophen is good for nerve pain. Watch your posture when bending and sitting. Warm or cold compress may help. hot water bottle in cover may help. I hope you feel better soon.

Matron may have a point as well. Things can take a while to settle after surgery.Get well wishes to you x

Keepsmiling has some good advice and I meant to mention that sometimes sciatica can be caused by your position in the lithotomy poles.

That doesn't sound good. Did you wear elastic socks for a week and inject your stomach with heparin?

Thanks for the reply I wondered if it was due to the position I was in during surgery. Can't take ibruprofen as I have Crohn's disease so will stick to the paracetamol .

Thanks matron

Yeah did everything I should and the problem only started about 10 days ago.
