Pain in Operated Leg, is it the new hip or perhaps my knee?

I had a THR to my right hip just over a year ago. Recovery has been steady and I’ve largely been pleased with progress, although I have been experiencing twinges around my thigh/knee. Last week I decided to join a local Health Walk (having completed one with no problems the week before) but I experienced real pain in that general area of thigh & knee which worsened considerably during the 3m walk, and although this improved when I rested, the pain returned when I had a longish walk around the town a couple of days later and is definitely ‘there’ during daily activities. I know I have early OA in my knees but do not know if this latest pain is likely to be caused by my right knee or is a problem with the operated hip. Has anyone else experienced this? And any advice on specific exercises to help would be welcome. Many thanks.

Hi I had my THR just over a year ago and the Piriformis Muscle started to agitate the Sciatic Nerve causing severe pain at times, although it is starting to get a little better now. I have found that the pain returns when I walk fast or am on my feet a lot and I am sure it is down to the THR. Hope you get your pain sorted out soon.*

hi gillian
make sure you tell your surgeon about this
there are complications after hip surgery.
that happened to me if the pain is above the knee it can be from your hip or back, if pain goes below its usually yourknee.
please do not ignore this!
