Hi am three weeks post gallbladder surgery which was keyhole. Straightforward apparently but last couple of days have been getting a sharp pain on my right side. Doesn't last long but stops me in my tracks. Went back to work this week and just wondered if I have overdone it after resting the past two and a half weeks. I know you're not supposed to lift for about six weeks and I have a desk job but do lift some files. Am waiting for a call back from my surgeons secretsry for advice. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
Maybe you are overdoing it? When daughter had her open surgery, her company gave her a graduated return to work to ease her back in. Also avoid lifting those files? Ever weighed your handbag? You’d be surprised how much it weighs. Even filling a kettle is out. Hope you’ll be ok. X
sounds like a combination of your stitches pulling together inside to heal as they will just be starting to heel and over doing it
Hi fran43384: I had my gallbladder out Feb of 2017. I was layed up for a few weeks. I had the same problem, but I don't work. I guess my work is a homemaker/mom. I was told not to lift anything heavier then a plate or coffee cup for 6 weeks. Yes your over doing it. You have to take it slow and not lift anything heavy. One or two files at a time. The cramps are from your organs. They use a special gas to inflate your abdomen during surgery so your organs can separate so it is easier for the surgeon can see and remove gallbladder. The cramps are also from your organs going back in place from being separated. But just becareful and take things slow until your feeling better. And don't lift anything heavier then a coffee cup for a while. If you have to lift files, lift them a couple of a time. Take care.
Thank you Iris - I will have to get my boss to carry and fetch my files for me!! I think I have probably underestimated things as scar s are healing nicely but it's what's inside you don't see x
Thanks Louise I'll have to be more careful now especially at work x
Thank you and yes my handbag isn't light!! Will be much more cautious now x
I am 6 weeks post o.p. still having issues. I am learning that you need to give your body time to heal. We had abdominal surgery!!!.the medical community minimizes the surgery as you go home the same day. Be kind to your body!
Sorry to here about your pain but is everything else ok and do you feel better with the stones and gall bladder removed and did all go well because some people have had so many complications with the near by organs too scary 💐Are you in England ? 💐
Hi Barbara yes I'm in England. I know too many horror stories on here, Touch wood no pain today so I think I definitely overdid it at work this week. Was done by keyhole and no complications. Am still being careful with my food though. Haven't been brave enough to have takeaways etc. I'd rather be well and also want to keep my weight down. Definitely helps by sticking to low fat diet. Have you had surgery? X
Hi hun quick question have u suffered severe bruising at all after removal as my frind has oni 7days after surgery and I'm very concerned
Hi hun u seem in the know about gallbladder surgery and what comes afterwards my fried is suffering from. Severe bruising 7days after removal is this normal
Hi Naomi yes if the bruising is right by the incisions that's perfectly normal. Mine are just starting to fade after just over three weeks now. Maybe try something like bio oil if you have it where you are or arnica cream which is natural is very good for bruising x
