Pain in the Butt

Last night when I turned on my side I had the worst pain in my bad leg, just round the butt area. This morning my leg aches and the pain is still there..... yesterday I was doing a lot of walking without my stick and getting on really weel. Did I over do it? I also drove my car for the first time since Christmas too, did I overdo that too? I'm confused..... maybe a quieter day is needed today. Love to all Gillxxxx

No advice but I too am experiencing this ache I'm 8 days post op and it's the first 'bad' day I've had. Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Gill

I think it's so easy to overdo things without realising it. I imagined at 10 weks post op I would be completely back to normal as so many people seem to be but I have noticed if I do too much (not what I would consider too much though) like walking too far without  a stick or gardening or two hours ironing then I too have pain. I didn't expect that at all. I'm sure a rest today will do you good. I doubt it's your lovely new car as I have been driving my automatic with no issues for some time. It's more likely the walking. I'm just going to take my new hip for a trip to Italy and the urse at the follow up team said make sure you take your stick with you as if you up the walking as you do on holiday you will surely need it. Still puzzling about getting on the sun lounger.

Gill

Maybe too much at once? I did a couple of hill walks and was sore, had to make myself walk slower the next day and was back on track.

Been painful in my butt too when I've been sitting a lot though.

Take it easy for a day, be kind to yourself.

Hi Gill,

It sounds as if you pushed yourself just a tad too much yesterday. So I suppose you'll be doing what I'm having to do -reluctantly - and take it easy for a bit. I think that our brains overtake our bodies at times! Not fair though. But we learn the hard way I guess. Hope you're fighting fit again soon.

Love, Anna x

It must be great to be driving again though sounds like you overdid things. I'm still only walking .3 of a mile ( measured it on phone) but doing it 4 times a day. Neighbours must be fed up watching me trodding same path. Unfortunately no where else to go. It's good tho that they are watching as I know they would be out if they saw me struggling. Have a nice day in the sunshine resting.!!!

Was it you Gill who suggested the tea trolley. I got one before op and today first day on my own it is a godsend for getting food from cooker to table. Well worth £14.99.

Thanks Attract don't think it was me that mentioned the trolley but if it works well done for buying one...... I got fed up of trailing the same bit of road so yesterday it briuliant to be out driving and walking, didn't think for one minute it would take this much out of me......... xx

trouble with me is I find I can do something I haven't done, and go over the top with it, I feel tired today so will take it more easy... I think your right about the brain, overtaking. Maybe we should have had a slow down button fixed there as well ? lol xxxx

think your right ...... too much at one time.xx

Hope your going to take your old hip to Italy too or you'll be a little lob-sided I am waiting until September then we are going on a boat on the Norfolk Broads for a week, that'll make me slow down ~~

I'm 7 weeks post op, and pig-headed as I am I thought all the niggles were over with lol. Serves me right, now I know I can't do everything ||I want to do........

Morning Gill,

I'm so sorry to hear about this, as you were so happy about getting your new car, my view is, is the car seat too low, or worse still a bucket type seat? also is it your right leg that's hurting? if so it could be the movement from brake pedal to gas that's caused this, as you haven't driven for a long time. so check your seat, and see if it happens again after driving, also some people don't realize that driving means a lot of turning round your head to check blind spots, backing up etc. this effects the hips, sometimes without you even knowing it, hope you have a restful day,

love

Lynne xxxx

Hi Gill, I am further on than you but it is still easy to over-do things and you know when you have as its literally a "Pain in the butt" ;-)

After my accident it was a few months before I had my op and during that time I had difficulty doing anything so although I hate mess I was unable to hoover through the house. Needless to say I am now Mrs Mop/hoover and a few days ago decided a late spring clean was in order............ WRONG :-(

I am only today feeling back to how I was last week and last night resorted to medication to enable sleep so from now on the chores will be done little and often.

Rest when you can, you also have your husband to care for and you will be back on track very soon. Big hugs, Dot.

Sounds so familiar ... I noticed that when I have walked without my cane I end up having this uncomfortable pain in my butt and inside/around my scar ..and the getting in and out of the car when I make several stops ...

Not helping that other hip needs surgery so walking is still the penguin shuffle ...

I just know that my gait is unbalanced

maybe you can have Alan massage the muscle -

well, it is raining here in Holland - will go to couch and read a bit ...

warm hug and take it easy ... all is well ...

I still happy about my car, but when you think abouit it I haven't driven since before Vhristmas, new transmission new car new seats etc etc, so is it any wonder I am tired so much use of my brain, and so many little muscles than had gone to sleep. I also think it was being pig-headed walking too much without my stick....

You are so right Renee, as always....... weather not too bad here it's brightening up, so will stick to walking today...and of course resting...xxx
