Pain in the rear of leg?

So today after raider practice(a JROTC sport), I was changing out of my uniform. When i started to remove my first boot i felt an extreme pain in the back of my leg to the point of collapsing. i sat there for about 5 minutes trying to calm down. Now my leg only hurts when i retract my knee. I can walk but in a form of limp where i only stick my hurt leg in front of me so that it doesnt contract.

I've read into it and seem to think it is some sort of sprain. Any information on anything else would be appreciated, such as potential diagnoses and especially how i could get better faster, as i have multiple things tomorrow that will take my leg to do including a raider meet.

thx in advance

Hi,

I don't think many people on this site would condone putting further strain on an already strained knee. Only rest will offer recovery certainly not long enough just overnight. I realise the jrotc is important to you but if you cannot complete the exercise because of a known injury that would not look good on your report.

Where exactly was the extreme pain? Behind the knee? Above the knee and behind, or below the knee and behind?

Hi, if the pain is in the back of your thigh...then it sounds very much like SCIATICA....

it is caused very often when bending forwards....the spinal disc bulges and presses on the sciatic nerve...

I suffered for many, many years until my disc actually ruptured...hospitalised...but at least I have not had sciatica for a while...

The easy way to check is to.....lie down on the bed or floor, and raise your leg up straight....if it is very, very painful to lift. Then it sounds likely...

See your GP anyway, for safe pain relief...if wish you well and pain free....regards dee x
