I had THR four weeks ago. About two weeks ago, while standing up, I had a sharp pain in the outer thigh a little below the incision. It has happened a few time since. My PT thinks it might be scar tissue. Any thoughts?
HI NANCI,
I HAD A HIP PINNING FROM A FRACTURE NEAR THE BALL, NOT A THR, AND I AM TEN WEEKS POST OP.
I HAVE SHARP PAINS LIKE YOU DESCRIBE IN MY BACK ON THE RIGHT SIDE, MY HIP, THIGH, ESPECIALLY MY KNEE, AND MY SHIN.
THEY HAVE TO CUT NERVES AND STUFF, SO MAYBE THOSE SHARP PAINS ARE A RESULT OF THE NERVES BEING AGGRAVATED AND NOT HEALED YET. I AM ONLY GUESSING.
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT I AM IN THE EXCRUCIATING PAIN I AM IN AT THIS POINT. ONCE THE BONE HEALS THE SURGEON DOESN’T WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH THIS ASPECT…SO I AM GOING TO DISCUSS IT WITH MY PRIMARY DR.
YOU ARE ONLY 4 WEEKS POST OP.. WHAT DOES YOUR SURGEON SAY ABOUT IT?
I don’t think I had it till after I saw them to get the staples out. I go back to them next week. I did well overall. This is always on standing, when weight is on it . After this happens, I can feel it walking but not awful. It hurts some when sitting back down. But nothing hurts like standing up. Once it gets better, it will be ok for a few days then happens again.
I’m so sorry you are having so much pain. How disappointing when you should be free of it. Thanks for replying.
I had my thigh pinned as well nearly 3 mths ago now. Up until a fortnight ago I was using a walker when out shopping etc.but now Im just using a walking stick. Im finding it very tiring and my right thigh muscle tightens up. Having all sorts of muscle pain when I finally sit down at home. Most likely though from using muscles that didnt get a work out while using my walker. Do hope your pain issues are resolved soon.
HI LINDA,
ARE YOU IN PHYSICAL THERAPY?ON A SCALE OF 1 to 10…10 being the worst…how would you rate your pain? DO YOU TAKE PAIN MEDICATION? THANKS BON
Using all capitals is considered to be bad etiquette and is called shouting! It also makes reading more. difficult. Thanks, Richard
Yes,Ive been to rehab classes. Its not painful painful, more discomfort. Like only a 5/10, like a niggling toothache that wont go away.No medications. Anyway, I’ ll if it improves or gets worse over the next week.
