hello all, new member here. trying to get some advice on something. About a couple weeks ago, i started getting this weird subtle pain in my left side.It usually happens when i drink something thats cold or cool. its kind of like a weird ache. when I drink something hot, I feel nothing. It's nothing that puts me in severe pain, but its something i notice. I used to get bad heartburn/acid reflex but have been on prevacid and have had nothing since. I tried looking online for similar stories but not luck. I'm gonna call my doctor come Monday but I'm still nervous as to what is causing this. I had a physical last month with no issues. My labs have also come back normal.
Some people can get an upset stomach when drinking cold/chilled drinks. Sometimes it can shock the stomach. Italians tend to avoid them for fear of this reaction. It is a known problem, though not everyone suffers from it. My mum vomited straight after eating ice cream, although only once. Your doctor is the best place to go for advice and diagnosis which will relieve your worries. Don’t research google, it will only cause anxiety.
In the meantime, if you want to drink water, don’t run the tap too cold; make sure it is tepid. If you are drinking bottled water that has been in the fridge, leave it out of the fridge for a few minutes to take the chill out of it. You could also try drinking warm water from the hot tap. See if these solutions help.
Hi aligahmed
This is called " Visciferal Hypersensitivity" when cold water/drinks are ingested. It is usually associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome although not everyone with IBS experiences this…
