Hi I have now been on the waiting list for 22 weeks, I have always been a really positive person but the past couple of weeks all I feel I do is cry because of the pain. I am on Morphine (longtec & shortec) but it isn't even denting the pain. I have been sitting up in bed sleeping since last August as the ball joint has moved from where it should be to somewhere outside my hip the surgeon said and then added the pain must be horrendous oh you think 😢 I can't lie on my other side as that hip was done 2 years ago and have never been able to lie on it since then. I now have bed sores as I am mostly in bed can't sit on chairs for too long as it is too sore. I patiently wait on the postman arriving with my letter from the hospital and then when it doesn't come the tears start, my poor husband must be at his wits end, he has been amazing thank god. I think he should get a sainthood for putting up with me, he keeps telling me how amazing I'm being and that he couldn't do it, I feel all I do just now is moan he says I don't moan enough I think he's just being nice 😁 Anyway sorry for my long boring post but just needed to vent, hopefully next week my letter will land on the mat 🙏🤞I also have just cancelled my holiday to Florida in October as looks like I won't make it so that isn't helping as I was really looking forward to it, have changed the booking to next April, hopefully be done by then (joking) I really would not cope if I was still waiting by then. Thanks to anyone reading my rant I actually feel slightly better getting it out.
Big Hugs Hippies

Hiya jacq
Are you in the UK I thought the longest waiting time was supposed to be 18 weeks this is a long time for you to wait.
Hi Susan yes Scotland, the operating theatre at the hospital I was attending they have closed and have transferred all hip and knee replacements to Hairmyers & Wishaw general but my surgeons waiting list is way behind. I only waited a few weeks when he done my first one, I have phoned everywhere even asked if I could go on a list for any other surgeon that had spaces but still no joy.
Cheers

Hi.
May I ask where do you live? Why does it take so long for you to have the operation?
Hope you get your letter real soon. Hang in there.
Barbara
Hi again jacq
I am in Lancashire and like you waiting in pain I am assuming that my surgery will be done within 18weeks if not before the only thing keeping me going is that by Dec 8th which will be 18 weeks I will have my first hip done and hopefully wait maybe a few months more for the other hip it's keeping me going after all the pain and I am trying to be as positive as I can.
I feel for you pain is so debilitating keep in touch we may end up with our ops at the same time
Big hugs
Susan
Jacq are you saying your hip is dislocated? Perhaps go to a&e if it is. It sounds like an emergency especially if you are so immobile you have sores developing! Hope you get help soon
regards

Hi Barbara I stay in Lanarkshire just outside Glasgow, I don't know nobody can give me an explanation, they just keep saying they are behind. Thanks I will do
Jacq x
Hi Susan I hope you meet your timescale because the waiting is awful especially as they can not even give me a rough idea. Stay positive but god if I'm still here in December I don't think I will cope lol
Cheers

Oh poor you! I was ready to mortgage my house and go private ! When suddenly I was offered one in 4 weeks! Also had morphine! Didn't touch it!
Could you go private? I don't know where you live? The groin pain has now started in the left one and I have a slot booked for October 6th. Praying it won't get as bad as other. Consultant said other one had cysts and things as well which this one hasn't ! Hope you get sorted. That pain is not there afterwards!!!! Painful and sore but not like before!
Hi Annie no my hip is not dislocated, my GP has sent me 3 times because of the swelling incase of a DVT but it has always been fine although nobody can explain the swelling. I fell in April and went to A&E and the consultant x rayed my hip and leg and said he could not believe how bad it was and asked me why it had not been done yet, told him I was on the list since March and he said surely they can't leave you much longer you must be in agony. Hopefully not much longer to wait.
Kind Regards

Hi Mereliba what area are you from? I couldn't really afford to go private as I had to give up work so it is only my husbands wage coming in. I was great when my right hip was done even asked them to take the Morphine drive thing out as I wasn't using it.

But what did they mean when they said the ball joint had moved from where it should be to somewhere outside your hip? If it's outside your hip it must have dislocated. That's so terrible that you are still waiting for help. Perhaps try writing to your MP?
cheers

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. Ask the doctors if they can do something else for your pain. They have multiple ways of handling pain, and I can't even imagine what you are going thru. I wish you wellness!
Hey jacq
Sorry about all your pain. Your dr for pain is not a very compassionate person to let you suffer this much. I've been in pain management for 3 yrs for a messed up hip replacement & my dr is concerned if your hurting. But I live in the United States ofAmerica.
Your story is a great example why we dont want socialized medicine.
If i was in your shape I would have a team if Drs trying to help me
I pray that you will get this resolved quickly & get you out of this pain. Pain of your degree sould NOT be allowed !!
Luv to you
David
Hi jacq
It's Susan again from Lancashire I have been following all your replies and honestly thought that the Scottish health care system under nicola sturgeon was second to none but it seems I was wrong I cannot believe you have been left in such an intolerable situation I thought England was bad enough.
I hope and pray that you will be helped soon please keep in touch

Hi Annie I don't really know all he said was, I said to him the pain was unbearable and he said I'm not surprised the ball joint is not where it should be it is moving around outside your hip somewhere, but will get you in as soon as we can. I contacted patient affairs and I told them I was contacting my MSP and she said the only person that might have any say is my own GP I had been to him on the 2nd August and he said he was going to write to my consultant to explain the situation and that I am on high dosage of Morphine and it is not even denting the pain but he has obviously not heard from the surgeon because if he had he would have phoned me.

Hi Linda thank you, I hate going to my GP all the time but everybody tells me I don't go enough they have tried giving me Amytriptilene and Gabapentin but none of them helped at all so I stopped taking them after a few weeks as I did not want to be taking medication for no reason. I am just really struggling to cope at the moment as it has dragged on.
Thanks
Jacq x
Hi David thank you for your concern, it was actually the pharmacist that said to my mum when she picked up my prescription that my pain was not being managed properly and I should go back to the doctor he increased the dosage of the Morphine but it has made no difference, I think the only thing that is going to make a difference is a new hip which is taking to long to happen, when I got my right hip done it was bone on bone as well but the pain was no where near the level of pain I have got at the moment, it has been like this since last August and it is draining the life out of me. Sorry for moaning I'm usually so positive and upbeat, hopefully back to my old self when my new hip is in.
Much Love & Hugs
Jacq x
