Had my gallbladder removed in December 2013. Pain is worse than before surgery. After many many tests( mri's, ct scans , xrays, etc .....) I was referred to a neurologist and pain management clinic. Eventually, they diagnosed me with intercostal neuralgia(nerve pain), probably as a result of surgery. I am currently taking diclofenac(antinflamatory) and nerve block injections to the area(steroids). Those help, but the pain is still bad. the dr. has prescribed lyrica for nerve pain, which I'm about to start. Hope that's more effective.
I wish I had something magical to say, but all I can say is how sorry I am you are going thru this, especially for so long. I hope your new med helps and gives you the relief that you deserve!
Hi sorry that you're still in pain. You mentioned that the pain is worse than before surgery. Does it mean you had nerve pain before GB surgery? How does this surgery caused you to have nerves pain and where exactly is the pain? I'm asking because I had this surgery too, and since then it seems like all my nerves in my chest/neck spasm very often and it's really uncomfortable. I hope your new treatment works better and you find relief for your pain.
Before surgery, the pain was the result of biliary dyskinesia. As a result of the surgery, I have now been diagnosed with intercostal neuralgia. It hurts in the same general area but more intense.
