Pain meds

I am going on 6 weeks since my thr my question is this ....anyone else need to take pain meds occasionally still

Yes I needed pain meds well into 6 weeks. Then once walking and exercises has made the muscles strong enough to support the leg I began to taper off.

Everyone is different. Certainly need pain meds for walking & exercises in the early days and sometimes later on.  It's a personal decision. Healing can't be rushed we go thru many stages of pain as we heal and it takes so much strength to get thru the whole journey.

Take care and soon you will be movin on to another stage of healing.

Pain levels and recovery are different for everyone.  Did you have anterior or posterior?

Hi Cindy, I was on hydromorphone, and also oxycotin for almost a year prior and post resection of my left hip

After my right hip was done in July, I have to take the odd Advil or acetaminophen but I am also on an inflammatory twice a day because I also have arthritis in many other joints. I do get some muscle ache after shoveling snow or over doing it at the gym and increasing resistance but it goes away in a couple of days. If you are in pain, talk with your doctor and first find out what kind of pain is it.

I occasionally took a Tylenol if I over did walking or exercising. It gets better

I had an anterior. Someday there is little pain than somehow my thigh and groin area get angry

Thanks, yes it does. Lots of ups and downs.

I also had anterior, 4 weeks ago. I stopped the hydrocodone 18 days after surgery. Now I take acetaminophen when I need something. I also ice frequently. Swelling in thigh continues and sometimes groin aches, too.
