Going in for surgery in a couple of weeks. What meds did they supply after surgery so I can make sure I get what I need. Thanks
They had me on Percocet every 6 hours, supplemented by Tramadal (sp?) in between every 4 hours. Went home with Percocet.
I had hydrocodone but after the surgery a whole bottle won’t make you feel better. Lol. It HURTS
They gave me morphine, percocet and ibuprofen. I personally think that was too much. I had a bad reaction to the morphine went off that quickly, and after 2 weeks asked to be off the percocet and replace it with vicoden. Like someone said it is going to hurt for a while.
I should add that the nerve block to the entire arm lasted about 30 hours which sure helped.
Oh and get a laxative, with the pain meds you will need it.
thanks
thanks no looking forward to
Morphine by pill?
Yes.
What a rotten thing to say with lol. To people who r pre op with pain and fear issues. Did your comment make u feel better?
Just commenting i am not looking forward to the operation.
Nancy I am very sorry that I offended you by my LOL comment. If you really knew me I would not hurt anybody and for this I am sorry. I believe everybody on this site knows that it’s going to hurt and they just want questions answered like believe me before my shoulder surgery I went on and looked for comments and advice too. And yes everyone let me know it is a painful surgery. I was I guess trying to make a point that a whole bottle of pain pills won’t take away the pain which is true. With the drug addiction of Today sadly people DO get addicted to pills after having surgery so in other wards I guess I should have said “please don’t expect pain pills to take away all the pain as it will only mask the pain”. . But forgive me for saying the other as I have had some serious surgeries in my lifetime and I would not mean to let people think I was making light of pain as I do know what pain feels like. Every day after surgery is another day towards healing. I really feel so sad for upsetting you and no I don’t feel better now especially that you took this with my lol the way you did. But thanks for making me aware of this and all of you please know I have a wonderful heart and would not intentionally hurt anyone.
Deborah
No offensive taken here. Surgery is painful. I would rather have a truthful answer stating what someones actual feels. People all react differently and you understand that in a forum like this. It is just nice to get answers to questions.
I wish we could go through life pain free but unfortunately that's not possible. Thank God there are medicines that can help but you are right we have to be careful because they can be dangerous.
Thanks for your comment to this. I sure had no intentions of scaring anyone or taking someone’s surgery lightly. I have had so many I seriously can’t remember them all. I am actually going to be getting CBD oil thru my doctors advice because of the horrible back pain I have had for way too long. Don’t want to really take the medical marijuana because you get high from that but CBD oil helps to mask the pain. I pray this works for me. Appreciate prayers.
