Pain on lateral(side of knee)

Hi , did any of you folks have pain on the side of the knee. It came on kind of suddenly and has not gotten much better in 2months. Wondering if this is not the knee but perhaps a tendon or ligament injury. Will be seeing specialist next week. What's odd is it doesn't hurt when I walk but excruciating getting into the car or getting out of a chair. Any input appreciated.

Soft tissue seems to be the issue. There is the inheritant damage that goes with the cutting and chilling and hanging around. Sometimes the fact that there is major bone damage in this surgery and any time none is damaged in any manner it a couple of months healing and much longer getting desensitized. In my mind and with no professional affirmation, I have felt the femur and tibia still bang together som because of the weak ligaments and muscles and the bones are irritated. As these things start firming up and healing starts. Nerves are the slowest part of this whole healing process so they stick their ugly little ends in there to stir the pot. Steady with the pain meds, excercise, elevation, extra hydration and nourishment. These strange pains just seem to interchange as we travel this road

I have constant pain on the outside of my knee...worse since MUA in March, and now that the numbness is wearing off.  Saw consultant today and am going back into hospital in Sept to have knee opened up and excess scar tissue removed.

my other TKR was also painful on outside, but wore off in time.

My bad! I should of clarified that I haven't had any sort of surgery yet. My right leg is bone on bone and just waiting to have the TKR. The left knee problem has just started a couple of months ago. Just hoping its not in need of surgery. Was hoping someone had similiar lateral pain symptoms and could give me some info about cause and possible fix.
