Hi guys! Officially on the dx waiting list (ie the list to see a specialist) as of about 2 weeks ago when my 3rd lot of blood tests came back clear and dandy (and they tested for everything that you can test for, the lady read it all back to me!) But lately, my legs have been on fire and I was wondering what you guys suggest. This was one of my symptoms early on but a change of job from one where I was standing up a lot to an office job definitely eased the pain, but for the past few days it's come back with a vengeance. I know going to the doctors is my first port of call but as they won't have any appointments for like a week, are there any other suggestions you guys have? Painkillers barely touch the pain, even cocodomol.
I've heard that tricyclic antidepressants can be good for the pain, in particular, amitriptylene or norotriptylene.
I've been on ami for my sleep before and all it did was make me drowsier (which I didn't know was possible) and I was still experiencing high pain levels.
I hesitate to suggest it because it may be no good for you but here goes - my legs throb and twitch in the evenings, and I find a soak in a hot bath helps temporarily. Of course you can't do that at work! I also use a heated "wheat bag" which can help. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory which I sometimes try.
I have leg pains too, also in my arms. More in my legs. I have aches and stiffness and I get sharp pains in one area. I find it gets worse until I lay down or go to bed. I take a lot of OTC meds. I had keep trying different ones til I found what works for me. I have prescription meds that I take when its really bad because its side affects of sleepiness and I have a low tolerance to meds. It can knock me out cold and I can't move.
