Pain relief for herpes

Ive just been diagnosed with type 1. This is my first outbreak. The pain is getting way worse and more intense. Can someone please tell what i can do to relieve the pain. I am on meds and am taking ib profin/tylenol

Hello. Sorry you are going through this. I too just found out I was positive. Mines was bad but not unbearable. Have you tried sitz baths with Epsom salt. I also use this gel called DMSO from healthy food store. It helps dry blisters up quickly. Tea tree oil is good for itching and also Destin cream. Hope this helps.

Hey Girl!

Yeah the doc told me not to use anything on them except the antibiotic cream the first doctor gave me (I was misdiagnosed with ingrown hairs)

Its not the worst pain I've every had but its consistant and stinging/ burning. Since I went a week and a half without meds the lumps are huge, about a half inch each.

Anywho my doc told me not to put anything like emla or vagisal on it incase it makes it worse... so Im nervous about putting stuff on it. But Im going to buy epsom salts and try that tonight (if i dont pass out first. Im unsually exhausted - is that normal??)

When were you disgnosed?

I use vagisil and Neosporin and i wear a pad just because it's comfortable for that area. Trust me I know how it feels. I'm still on my 1st breakout and it was the worst!

It gets worse before it gets better, with my experience anyway

Is vagisal okay to put on the affected area? The doc said it could aggravate it further so not to apply it? But like i want *SOMETHING* to ease the pain. You tried ice??

Well your outbreak is probabaly worse than Mine. Didn't try ice but I heard it works

I was diagnosed 8/9/16. I will never forget that date. I worst day of my life. I heard a lot of people say it makes u tired but I was not. Do u know what your levels was. Mines was 13.60. I'm told the higher the level the longer u had it but I'm still in the dark.

Hey, I told was just diagnosed with HSV 2 it's been about 2 weeks now and my bumps are gone and I feel great as far as physically bc BAAAAAABBY that first outbreak for like 3 days I couldn't pee it burned so bad, but soaking in espom salt water help and drying the affected area with your hair dryer set on cool and low. I haven't had a blood test yet I'm going Monday but they diagnosed me from a swab test. Oh and going to the bathroom pour warm water down there as you pee it helps a lot...

I was diagnosed on 7/30/16 and felt the same way, do you get that number from only a blood test bc when they told me from my swab test they were so nonchalant like yea you got HSV 2 it's normal you will be OK...like really wtf.

that Destin cream, would probably burn ,since it's guided towards rashes. I wouldn't recommend it also because of the toxin chemical talc. During the first breakout I tried Vaseline to create a barrier for when I used the bathroom, because it burned.

During the first breakout I tried Vaseline to create a barrier for when I used the bathroom, because it burned. I got minimal relief, but if you can get the cream to numb the area or the cream that's in pill form. That should help

I hate that the news was broken to you like that. I read that 90% of people who has it don't know, but if you know didn't have it before , it's not the norm for you , so I wish they didn't make it seem like "herpes is the new black" smh

Great suggestion! I found out about herpes through a swab test as well. I just had my baby 4 months ago and wished I still had that spray bottle they give to women after birth, that you put warm water in. But I managed with Vaseline and then the numbing gel

How did the neosproin work?

Yea they didn't really care....but he also told me I could've been had it and just now having a outbreak bc I'm still lost on all of this bc my now ex boyfriend and I use condoms all the time and had unprotected sex 2 but so long ago. He dumped me but never told me his results that's if he ever went smh. I was hurt but I felt letting him know was the right thing to do and I thought by us being in love he would be more understanding but naw it wasn't real. Now I'm thinking I got it from him bc even without an outbreak you can still spread it but he's the only person I've had sex with in the last 30 days and it said you have the outbreak 2-20 days after being exposed. Idk but I'm not going to worry myself about bc I think even if he has it he's not going to admit it.

I thought you couldn't put anything on it. My outbreak wasn't that it was only painful when I went to the bathroom but after I was fine. I just held my pee forever bc it felt like fire was coming out.

Soak and espom salt and dry them with the blow dryer so you can dry them out faster.

They gave me acyclovir and sent me on my way no numbing cream, they told me not to put anything on them just to let it run its course but I'm like hell no something has to give. The only time mines bother me was when I went to the bathroom, other than that no problems.

I was diagnosed with type 1 8/26/2016.. honestly the worst day of my life.. actually the worst month of my life. I had the run around with doctors no one could figure out what was going on.. turns out I had chlamydia and herpes type 1 at the same time and that was why I couldn't pee without bawling. Epsom salt will be your best friend. At the beginning I would fill the bath with a little bit of water just enough to hit my vagina while squatting and then I would pee in the tub that way your stream isn't going everywhere hitting the sores... also I didn't have any sores at the front just mainly at the back of my vagina and butt so I would sit on the toilet and reach my hands down and hold the backs of my ankles that way the scream is only hitting the front. Also filling the bath with just enough water to cover load that sucker up with Epsom salt and try to stay in there for as long as you can when drying off only dab the area lightly and then take a blow dryer on the cool and low setting to dry the area you do not want to leave it wet! Tea tree oil irritated mine so personally I don't recommend. Try sleeping with a pillow between your legs to keep air flow in that area and avoid sugar or any unhealthy food!! That one is huge your diet is number one you have to help your body fight this thing. those are just a few things I've learned with having this and you have to try to stay positive and know that the outbreak will end soon!!
