Hi Guys,

Can anyone suggest pain relief that works. Seems like painkillers doesn't work when I am having a flur up.Also, does reading and computer screens trigger flurs ups-I think so.

    You are talking about a flare.  Do you have Blepharitis, you don’t actually say.

My Consultant Ophthalmologist told me to put a spot of mild handwash in a bowl of very hot water and soak a face cloth in it and place on my eyes, repeat 2 or 3 times.  Do this morning and evening.

Anything that involves staring for long periods, computers, reading, watching TV, driving, can exacerbate dry eyes and you probably have dry eye syndrome too.  You can buy lubricating drops, sometimes called Artificial Tears.

 

Have you consulted anyone about this?  You could try your local Optometrist, or a Pharmacist, or your GP.

 

I have other conditions, so am under an Ophthalmologist [a hospital eye doctor] and have been prescribed drops for the pain that I get in my eye.

Talk to a Professional of some kind

Thanks for response-yes I have blepharitis. Isn't Blepharitis dry eyes-or are they different.

Love your username by the way, I use Systane drops during the day, you can use them as many times as you like to relieve the pain etc and I use Vita-Pos gel at night.  Get your optician to write to your doctor about your condition and then you can have them on prescription.  Also every morning and night I put a little baby (tearless) shampoo in a small cup fill half way with warm water and with your middle finger gently work your way around the upper and lower lid, do this twice and then rinse with cold water or gentle eye makeup remover.  This was all prescribed by my cataract surgeon, he suffers with the same thing (we live in Norfolk and the allergins in the air cause the problem!) so this is what he uses every day, and I have found it wonderful.  Hope it works for you.
