Has anyone had more pain in hip sitting than walking? My GP treated with a steroid injection which did not help and Naproxen. I then had an ex ray and MRI. After the MRI the GP made an appoint for me with an orthopedic surgeon which is tomorrow. The nurse didn't know what the MRI showed.
It can be something like a bursitis ,pain to your glutinous Maximus or medius. Best get to the root cause so they can figure out how to make a meaningful change.
The Nurses don't really know how to read the MRI and X-ray's plus they are not going to tell you what they think they see. The orthopedic surgeon will be able to say what's going on and come up with a plan. My hip was causing me much pain for around 10 years and I finally got the courage to go to the doctor. He sent me for MRI and X-ray's. I then was told that on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being worse that I was a 20. He couldn't understand how or why I put up with it for so long. I had total bone on bone in my left hip joint and had total hip replacement 5 weeks ago. I'm walking around without any walker or cane and driving to the store. Best thing I've ever done for myself. The first few days are pretty tough and you don't get much sleep for a few weeks but it gets better every day when you put in the work. Do whatever the Doc tells you after all he wants to help you feel better. Good luck with the diagnosis and take it slowly.
hi julian,
I am assuming that you didn't have hip replacement surgery yet and your GP has referred you to orthopedic surgeon ...
Did GP tell you anything ?
Sitting was very painful before my surgery -
good luck and please come back here to let us know the outcome of your visit ..

Yes I told my surgeon it is better to walk than sit an he nodded knowingly and said that was common .. You get relief by standing up and walking about ! I think that is a sign your hip is arthritic . Something to do with the joints when you sit down but I cannot remember exactly what he said . Good luck X
