Yesterday I was only able to take one walk and had to revert to cocodamol this morning as pain was bad on waking up. Looks like I overdid the walking in Glasgow.!!! Well lesson learned. But it was worth it.I still have swelling ankle and knee at 11 weeks. I think someone else on the forum mentioned that but I can't find the post. At six weeks consultant just said that it will go in time!!!
Its OK it will be just muscles, have to have a break today. Just have a lazy day, if you can.... Ian +++
hi
I must be 14 weeks now and on holiday in Spain but don't want to start playing golf yet as 2nd operation due but wanted to walk the courses to get some exercise before my next operation, I managed to do walks ever other day and then built up to 7 miles on last day but suffered a bit too. I have noticed I have to take it easy every other day and slowly build up.just rest in between I am going to do that now and take it slowly as I am sure it will get better.
7 miles wah!! I could not do that even before osteoarthritis.
At 11_weeks all I can normally do is a mile twice daily. Glad to hear you were allowed to go to Spain at 14 weeks. Enjoy the sunshine. I was also doing a wee bit of digging yesterday using unoperated side to push spade in so that might not have helped but the daffodils in spring will be my reward!
Thanks Ian. I get impatient at times hearing that people are back working like yourself and I'm still only managing a mile at 11 weeks but I suppose we are all different in recovery. I have been given a date for physio assessment at last for October and my op was end of June. So many different practice's. As for your driving, my guy at first consultation said about 3 times " no driving for 6 seeks" then at post op he put it up to 8 weeks. I hope you get an answer from dvla.
I had only done 2 miles up to last day but thought I would check with pedometer and managed the 7 miles but have not done anything since...and needed the painkillers again so when now home will take things slower but the sunshine did help.
Do not worry at 11 weeks I also only managed small distances ..It does build up after a few more weeks.
Hi attractac,
After 11 weeks last time for me I had only just gone back to work and not able to manage the distance you have been covering. I was on my feet a lot but in short bursts then I had to rest.
At 11 weeks you are only a quarter way through being fully and totally healed so it's no surprise you need to maybe have a day of rest after a day of being very active.
Im sure after taking it easy today you will wake up tomorrow feeling better than ever. You did do an awful lot, after all.
The meds are there to help so if you need them, take them. It's not a sign of weakness or a backward step.
Be kind to yourself today. You see doing amazingly well.
Ali xx
dear one,
yeah, you might have overdone it, but like you said It was worth it. ..
dear lord, Maggie, walking 7 miles! !!!
I am looking forward to the first mile 😸.
warm and big hugs
Renee
Thank you ali. The one cocodamol made all the difference and I'm just in from 20 minutes walk. Have bowel scan on Friday so will get bowel cleaned out tomorrow. So felt OK about taking cocodamol. My consultant was concerned about a pain in my side after op. Said that I could have developed diverticulitis so am having follow up scan.
Hope you're feeling a bit better too Renee.
