Pain while taking 20 mg pred

Yesterday. I had gardenning and in the evening I was so pain in neck and shoulder.  The pain that I never had before.  I am taking 20 mg of Pred.  Did you have feeling like that while you taking a hign dose of Pred ?

Thank you for your answers.  I like this forum !!!

Hello karyjo, you say that last night you felt a lot of pain. This has happened to me too if I have overlworked throughout the day, but in the morning I have felt better and normally within 3 days the pain has gone and I feel ok again. How do you this morning? Has the pain decreased at all?

regards, christina

Gardening Karyjo - silly girl!   It sounds as if your muscles are letting you know you did too much!

The pred manages the symptoms - but your muscles are still unable to tolerate exercise because of the PMR. They will not tell you that you have done too much and then they will take much longer to recover. I think that taking higher doses of pred can also make your muscles a bit more delicate.

Do the gardening over lots of days in very small bites. Or find a man to do the heavy things which is what I did after doing what you have done.

Try alternating ice and warmth and see if it helps.

Thanks a lot Christina and Eileen. I know I am silly girl ;-)  I do gardening over lots of days in small bites.  But I have to confes that yesterday, I want to finish with the gardenning.  I paid for that in the evening and today too.  Pain is less today but I am feeling very tired and like if I have little fever. I have difficutlies to believe, to remember what PMR could do.  Because the pain is incidious. When I have gardening, I had no pain !!!

This forum is a goldmine for me !!!!

We have all done it - we feel quite good and think "I can finish this..." But the reminder is useful  - you'll behave for a while now won't you

I remember having pain at times while on 20 mg of Prednisone, because I overdid it.

I am on 15 mg, and I feel discomfort when I stand too long and climb the steps in my house.  luckily this house is being sold and exchanged for a ground level apartment.

Yes, this caring forum is indeed a goldmine!

All the best to you!

Hello Karyjo.as EileenH has said we have all done it my first dose of pred was on friday lunch time, Come saterday morning whoopee, out for a walk then tools out ie mower fork etc non stop all day more or less. come evening & bathtime both my legs had swollen like to over sized Walls sausages, panic made my first post onto this forum & had my wrists slapped, but lesson learnt. me thinks the thing to do now is to sit and admire the graft you have put in to it & enjoy. Best Wishes.Dave

Yes, I would remind for a while.... I hope :-)   Before, I was a performer,,, You imagine I have to fight with me but I'll learn !!!

Thank you Erika sharing your experience with me.  I give me an idea how PMR can change our life !

Fighting it just wastes energy that you could use much better somewhere else. It isn't giving in to PMR, it is being realistic about how you adjust to live with it all.

I agree with you Eileen.  I have been to be realistic and learn and accept to live with PMR.  I am inexperienced with this auto immune illness.  That why this forum is helping me soo much.

Have a nice day and weekend !!

Been there done thatand suffered, and i learned you body lets YOU know, when enough is enough, so do as Eileen says take it easy, i did mine over three days, got hubby to lift heavy bags of soil so i did not have too, then under shower with water as hot as i could stand on shoulders, as i read to do this on this forum, (do it every morning). Take it easy!!!!!!

Each of you give lot of help,,  You can not imagine how I feel  much better when I read your experiences.  You understand and you don't judge me !!   It is hard for me to change and  I am not  "softly" with me but with help, I will  be  more and  more  cool  with me.

Have a nice week end !
