Hey everyone,

Hi I just think its from you not walking in 3 weeks, it takes time, I had the same problem and I was 6 weeks non weight bearing, alittle walking a day, then gradually more and more, are you going to physical therapy? ??
It sounds like you weren't given a lot of instructions! I was 6 weeks non-weight-bearing, then had to use a walker or crutches (partial-weight-bearing) and a surgical boot for 3 more weeks, then I had to wear a surgical shoe for several more weeks. When you start walking, you need to take it SLOW because you haven't used any of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc. for a long time, there is swelling that is going to be uncomfortable and cause pain, and the incisions and surgical sites are going to be sore and tender. In other words, you aren't going to be able to just get up and walk around like nothing happened! I just finished 11 weeks of physical therapy and I'm still limping around with very swollen feet (one foot was done 8 months ago, the other 5 months ago). Anyway, it sounds like you just aren't ready to walk and you may have to give it more time. Since the doc said it was okay, maybe you want to start slow -- with a walker or crutches. Good luck!
No I really wasnt!! He first no weight for 6 weeks, than today at not quite 4 he said start walking. I thought I could just stand up and walk...uhm not the case. I do fi,d it a little easier with crutches but can't go far and the pain is awful. Thanks for the encouragement and advice.
I'm so glad it's not just me, thought something was wrong!! He didn't mention physical therapy, so not sure
It sounds like you need to call him and get some clarification! Yes, I went to physical therapy starting about 2 1/2 months after the surgery on my second foot (as soon as I was fully weight bearing) -- they did therapy on both feet at the same time. I went 3X a week for 11 weeks -- just finished last week and now I have exercises to do at home. Uggghhh!! So no, it's not just you!! I'm just sorry your surgeon didn't really tell you what the recovery would be like! It's a long process, unfortunately!!!
Hi, I had surgery two weeks ago and have been told no weight baring for six weeks. I would speak to the surgeon again before putting any more pressure on the foot.
I'm just over 4 weeks PO and I've just started poodling about a
bit more indoors.... although I still elevate for most of the day.
The first 2 weeks were essential walking only... I still have to
wear my surgical shoe and use my crutches when walking. I'm
surprised you're allowed to start 'normal' walking so soon.
Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear that. I will go tomorrow to get my stitches out. I'm happy but scared at the same.time. I have been having pain in my foot yesterday and today. Weird cause for 2 days I have been feeling ok. Just little pain. Now I feel alot more like near.surgery area and still shooting pains too, also alot of muscle spasms. They just come and go but they sometimesaid make my foot jump.
Do you have a boot on while u walking? I am.so scared to start all this. Doctor told me.by end of this week.he wants me.to be able.to walk.without crutches. Ugh
I just talked to my surgeon. He said use crutches and walk a little at a time, By the time I go back in 3 weeks hopefully i will no longer need them.
My foot was doing that before I got my stitches out, so hopefully them getting removed will help u. I do wear my foot when walking.,i just talked to him, and he said take small steps with crutches, and not to over do it. He also said do not stopnusong crutches until I feel comfortable.
