hello, I have RA and quite often get pain in my wrists but they don't swell, does anyone else get this? I had an ultrasound of wrists a few years ago which said they were damaged, could that be the cause of the pain? Thanks
Dear Caz: You should probably speak to your Doctor about this, but I have never heard of ultra sound damaging anything. They are sounds waves, nothing harmful.
The wrists are pretty intricate area and could be a break down from years of RA, but I would check with your Doctor. Hang in there!!!
I get achiness in my wrists but no swelling. My swelling is in my hands and fingers. How long have you had RA? If your ultrasound showed damage it's quite possible that might be your problem. I would follow up with your rheumy.
good luck!
Hi Caz, I've had RA almost 8yrs and been getting a bit more pain just recently in some of my joints including wrists but do not get any swelling. I'm due to see the consultant in a couple of months and have several questions I'd like to ask. Such as if as he says my RA is being managed well should I have the pain i get in my joints and why no swelling. I'd imagine if the ultrasound has shown actual damage to your wrists that is why they are painful. Do you have wrist splints to wear when doing things that put extra strain on them? Always best to check with your GP or specialist. Good luck.
Perfectly possible to get pain without swelling in RA
