Hi Gina,

I have suffered from IBS for 8 years now. I could have written your post myself! I developed it after my Nanna died and have taken Citalopram since. I take 8 or more imodium each day and always have diarrhoea. i cant even make it to the end of a meal without running to the toilet. I was taking Buscopan tablets until last week when I had to go back to my GP as I was in so much pain, my stomach was swelling and I was quite ill.

I have now been given mebeverine and hope that this will help the pain. I have never given birth but sometimes I think that it would be just exactly what I experience every day.

I started taking panic attacks and anxiety attacks in Feb this year and this makes my IBS worse.

It's nice to speak to someone who is going through the same thing.

Hi Guys

I am only 19 and have been suffering from ibs for just over a year now. It started when I dropped out of uni and struggled to find a job. I have just been given mebeverine in an attempt to settle my bowel movements and eating habbits. I was always feeling full and could go for days by only eating a sandwich at lunch time. I ended up loosing 2kg in roughly 6 weeks and I could never go out for a meal and would avoid eating with other people as I was so embarrased when I could harldy finish half a meal, let alone a whole one! As for bowel movements I get cramps quite often and lower back pain. I need to pee at least once and hour but quite often only pass stools about 2/3 times a week, needless to say when I do need to go its hardly pleasant! I have also been given proctosedyl suppositories which are not very nice. I am been on both mebeverine and the suppositories for 4 days now and unfortunately yet to notice any difference.

Have you had any luck with mebeverine? As I am starting to get a bit doubtful.

Jen

Hi Jen,

I have only been taking Mebeverine for a week now. I previously was prescribed Buscopan and have used them for 7 years before changing. I really hope Mebeverine works too cos I can't handle this bloomin pain!

Hi Michelle

I am due back at the doctors in 3 weeks time to see how I got on with them. I guess I was hoping for a quick fix solution. Shall let you know if they start to work, but so far food is not an interest to me at all. Just wish there was a cure because as well as dealing with the pain and embarrasment of ibs, my family and my boyfriend especially are really worried that I can't eat. Its a stress for everyone!

hi all,

ive been reading what youve had to say, and see that theres a few of us with the problem.

ive been on mebeverine tablets for a number of years now, and still get cramps and pains, and now think that its the mebeverine that could be the reason why i now have a lump in my breast, but everyone is differrent. so it may work for some of you but not all. I take fybogel granules to help with the diarrhoea, and on bad days i use kaolin mixture that you can buy over the counter, this blocks me up for a short time,

i don't know if i have ibs or what but Ive been having symptoms since a month was originally on nitazoxanide as my gp thought it was parasitic infection . felt better for a week then again started feeling constipated n puffy n nauseating went back to my gp and hes put me on a 10 day course of mebeverine the pain has gone appetites back been 5 days now had the worse pain sometime back so decided to do a check and came across this forum. i haven't had any side effects from these capsules except that i feel drowsy i surely hope i don't have ibs :? well as all mine to didnt come with a leaflet. thanks all feel better soon

Yeah I've been feeling really drowsy in the middle of the day and having to sleep for like 2 hours, I thought this was a bit weird seein as the leaflet says they're non drowsy. It also says you can carry on drinking alcohol but when i did last week i felt like i was gonna throw up. Feeling a bit better for using mebeverine though i've been goin 8 days now and trying to change my diet and lifestyle but it's proving quite tough to do. but hey, Rome wasn't built during the day...
