Does anyone else have painful cramping at the top of the front of your legs when your period is due? I remember having this as a teenager, but it disappeared when I had my baby 23 years ago. I started having it again about 4 years ago, and some months it's excrutiating. I take paracetomol, and use a hot water bottle to aleviate the pain.
Hi Louise
Yep - dreadful cramp that is solid ache for several days and little relief unless I catch it early with ibuprofen. I get it at any time of my cycle though. Had it in my 20s then it started again in my 40s so went to doctors and she said I was vit D deficient - is that the modern catch all for unexplained oddness?!?! Anyway, I take vit D supplements in the winter and try to spend at least 30 mins in the sunshine without sunscreen on for my summertime dose although here in the UK that is quite a challenge. It did seem to improve although I'm rubbish at looking after myself. Maybe it's hormones although pretty sure it's not peri as I've had it forever.
How long do your cramps last and are they persistent? I totally sympathise - it's a horrible achey pain.
Hi Topsy. I take paracetomol as soon as the pain begins, so it lasts about 20 minutes. I may only get it once, but then other months it can be on and off for a few days. I'm definitely not vit D deficient. Excercise used to help, but I'm not allowed to do that any more due to a prolapsed disc in my back. Hey ho! Thanks for replying though. x
