My lungs hurt every day. Sometimes for hours. Sometimes for a few minutes at a time. I used to hurt only on one side. Now it's both. I've never heard anyone else say they hurt....do you have lung pain? And if so, what have your doctors said about it? Will it ever "stop" for long periods of time? My pain has been going on for 4 months. Does anything help?
I only have pain on the right side, but it's been pretty constant...for about 20 years now. Mostly it's a dull ache, sometimes it's more stabby, but there's some degree of pain most of the time.
It stops occasionally, usually for a few days, a couple of times it's stopped for a few months, but always comes back. I started taking Singulair a few months ago and that's helped some, but not reliably. I can't take NSAIDs because they make the coughing up blood much worse, and narcotics help for a few hours but make me feel lousy, so...it's mostly Tylenol and suffering.
My pulmonologist says chest/lung pain with Bx is common (my right lung is a train wreck, and there's inflammation in the rib cartilage on that side) and that, given my inability to take anti-inflammatory meds, it's just something to deal with.
Heat helps, sometimes, or those creams made for joint pain. I've had it long enough I get a little alarmed if it's *not* there.
In your case, if you haven't discussed this with your doctor, you should. Try to get an idea of exactly what's hurting and why. I wish you the best!
Hi, I have pain and tightness when i have sutum to come up, and once that is dealt with it has gone , but I have horrible pain in my back when i do things like cooking dinner it is right between my shoulders , i call it knife in my back so everything I do has to be done in small bits , so if it is a big dinner I have to start in the morning.
Take care, Pam.
Thank you so much for sharing! Although I'm horrified that it seems like it's going to be part of my life from now on......It's oddly comforting knowing I'm not alone.
May 2018 bring us all closer to wellness and less symptoms!
Thank you for sharing Pam. I'm sorry you also have pain.
I get pain too from time to time but not always. Usually deep down at the bottom of my lungs or on one side. I spoke to a very eminent professor (who specialises in bronchiectasis) about this and he said some bronchiectasis patients do get pain but noone really knows why, himself included. Worth talking to your consultant about it. Who knows? He might have a solution.
