I have had a very painful shoulder for almost a year. Sometimes it feels swollen although I'm not 100% sure. I eventually went to see my GP when OTC cocodamol didn't work. I had an injection in the joint to no effect so I was prescribed anti inflammatories which gave me severe abdominal pain. Now I take codeine 30 MGM's which helps. My concern is that I have not had a blood test or an Xray nor was I advised to have them.Night time is a difficult time and I often can't sleep for the pain. Does it sound like arthritis?
Hi Matron, it is possible that you have frzen shoulder. Go to your GP and ask to have physiotherapy, according to the NHS website that shoukd be the first instance which should ckear it up...but thats if you start it early. I have frozen shoulder...I think and putting a cushion or pillow underneath my arm/shoulder at night helps. I have other health issues that are superseding my arm right now. Once everything is gets taken care of that will be my next project. To not have severe pain in my right shoulder/arm that feels like I got hit so hard that my
arm is broken.
Hope this helps.
Take care
Frizzychris
Thank you Frizzychris for your comments and useful advice. To be honest I did think it was frozen shoulder and told the first doctor that (in fact he works in the Rheumatology Dept at our local hospital once a month). He agreed and gave me the steroid injection. It was another GP who agreed it was probably arthritis. I will now take your advice and request physiotherapy. Thank you.
You are very welcome. That sounds like a plan. Keep me updated.
All the best
