Painless head throbbing when lying down

It was a pinched muscle/nerve in my neck.

Be careful of chiropractors. try a message to un pinch the muscle nerve.

ohh interesting. thank you. I hope its something like that
freaks me out being in my head. just at the beginning of figuring this out with my doctor.

Good luck I hope they check your nerves and muscles in the neck area

Have they checked your nerves for a pinched nerve in the neck area.

No I haven’t and it never even occurred to me but I definitely will now. That would be much less scary than the things I’m seeing online with the head lol. thanks!

It would be something to look into because nerves and muscles are all over the body. A pinched nerve or muscle can do many of wierd things. The nerve could be anywhere and still have a raidianting effect somewhere else in the body. Mine was in my neck. Try a message see if that helps. Just an idea. Try a Epsom salt bath if the doctor aproves it because on the package it says to consult a doctor if u have health issues like diabetes. I am just a person making suggestions cuz I had the same discomfort. I pray that everyone gets rid of the health issue.

What type of doctor hat type of doctor (specialty) was able to help you. ..

I seen a neurologist, a physical message therapist to get the pinch nerve unpinched.

Thanks
every evening when i lie down for bed i get this pulsating in my head while it doesnt hurt it is very difficult to sleepsometime i notice it during the day but it is always present at night
i try to prop myself up when i sleep i had gone to headache doctor and then they had asked that i get an MRI but i dont want to waste time with the wrong type of doctor or getting tests that are not going to reveal anything about whatever is causing this it is concerning me a great deal because it is my head …

hello! I hope you get this message as I know this while quite some time ago when you made this post. i have been dealing with the same symptoms and cant find an answer. did you happen to have the throbbing in your spine too? I am trying to find a doctor who will listen to me and make me not feel crazy.

I have had this for three years now but it’s much worse when I wake up and the pulsating goes down my spine too. I’ve been to many doctors, have lots of tests and have taken lots of meds. Nothing has helped prevent it. The things that seems to relieve it is an ice pack. I take Neurontin, Inderal and Klonipin which helps AFTER waking up. But nothing seems to just stop it from doing that pulsating. They found stenosis in my neck but why is it ALWAYS worse when I wake up? It ALWAYS happens when I wake up, even for a dozing minute. During the day, I believe it’s just lingering from the night. It could be related to weight or/and blood vessels or even migraines. I had lots of massage and physical therapy, nothing helped. I thought about trying acupuncture, not sure about that yet. but it’s an idea. You may have a pinched nerve in your neck that’s causing this. physical therapy might help. Keep us posted. And good luck.

any latest news about you guys about this painless head throbbing..ive been suffering for a month..it doesnt bother me when im sleeping but still im worried because i know this is not normal…any remedies or medication..pls help

hello how did the doctor determine that you had a pinched nerve?

I went to a chiropractor and he did a adjustment and the feeling I was having went away. he said that I had a pinched nerve in my neck.

I did not have the throbbing in my spine. I get this when I over use my right arm and hand because I am right handed. laying on that or texting will aggravate it. stress is another thing that make me aggravate it because I am not sleeping good and sleeping wrong. I went to so many doctor but a neurologist did test. a chiropractor did a adjustment and the feeling subsided thank GOD. I truly hope they work on figuring out what everyone throbbing is and fix their uncomfortable annoying disabling feeling.

a chiropractor. I went to the physical message therapist after I got the adjustment.

hi Susan, I have been diagnosed with IIH after 2 years of numerous tests, I suffer with chronic IIH and this is one of the main symptoms I have, whenever lie down I have throbbing in my head, weird noises in my ears, and my head often feels like its going to explode, this is due to the excessive fluid build up around the brain, causing the the fluid the push on the brain, I would suggest going back to your gp and mentioning that you may think its IIH and ask to have more tests done and for them to look for the signs of IIH, you say you see the othpamologist every 4 months, have they mentioned anything about papilladima? as this is one of the signs of IIH aswell, it’s also very important to report any sight loss if you have IIH as it can lead to permanent sight loss, dont give up until you have answers, many doctors still dont understand IIH themselves as it isnt common but remember our heads are important so make sure you get the answers you need. good

Hi Susan,
Are you still dealing with this issue? I have the exact same thing when i lay down for a rest in the daytime-head pulsates usually without pain. I have also had tinnitus for dozens of years and more severe for past 7 months. Also have severely tight neck muscles. Like you and others, had a zillion tests (ENT doc, CT scan, MRI, eye test to rule out pappilledema, dental exam, been to chiropractor, etc) and nothing changes it. Chiro helps neck for a bit but doesn’t last. I eat very healthy, exercise a lot, lost 20 pounds, watch my sodium and sweets, don’t smoke but do have an occasional glass of wine or cocktail. Wine seems to make tinnitus a bit louder. Docs make you think you’re crazy or making it up.
