I have very painful hip arthritis problems and also suffer pains down shin on same leg as damaged hip. Is this shin pain related to hip problem.?
I also have groin pain and buttock pain. Shin pain always feels worse when standing still, usually when doing prep for cooking etc. Does anyone also suffer this ?
I had a TLH January 22 2018 feels much better. Now I have to have THR maybe after Labor Day. To answer your question yes all of that pain is coming from your hip. I have severe shin, knee, hip and groin pain on my right side. I use my office chair to roll around in the kitchen because since I have bone on bone pain it hurts too much to stand on it cooking. All of that turning hurts tremendously. I am praying for you but that is how I felt until I got the first surgery but was informed I would tell the difference because so much pressure was put on the right side.
I had lots of pain all through my leg before surgery. Some into my ankle and the top of my foot too. And groin pain is one of the main indicators of OA in the hip. Some of it is referred pain but it’s an absolutely classic pattern.
I had a kind of throbbing in my shin it was worse than the hip pain, it always seemed to happen in bed and would stop me sleeping. When I saw the consultant he said this operation will only stop the hip pain and nothing below the knee, that depressed me as I have always put the throbbing down to my hip. I am eight weeks post op on wednesday and touch wood I have not had the throbbing in the shin yet.
I still think the pains and everything we suffer are related to the hip, it dictates the way we walk, well mine did I ended up limping badly. I am keeping fingers crossed the horrid shin throbbing does not return.
hi,ive just come back from a weeks holiday where i did quite a bit of walking on sand.i do have arthritis of the knees, but the pain i have had this week, shooting up,and down, from the knee on my operated hip side, has been excruciating-leaving me unable to sleep,.i was going to wait a week to see if it would settle down, before yelping to my doctor, but could this be from the hip replacement,do you think? it was done on the 29th of january. thanks x
Hi Nuggie Sorry in delay been on holiday and now catching up.....it really is so severe this pain, and you are correct to stand cooking is a nightmare !
Did you take painkillers at this time ? I was trying to cut down, but think I should take them continually so they are in my system, as I really do not think they are as effective talking them as and when.
Apologies re late answer to you. Been on holiday I am still finding like you the shin pain when it really plays up, usually whilst standing cooking, it so painful it sometimes feels much worse than the hip ! I hope you are still shin pain free ?
I am now re assessing my pain killers. I have just commented on the same subject actually. I have been talking them as and when ( paracetamol and iboprufen ) as I hate talking so many drugs, however I do not think I am doing myself any favours as I think maybe I should take them all the time, to enable them to be constantly in my system. Can I ask you how you chose to take painkillers ( if you indeed did )
