Hi all, I usually get small heart flutters that i feel in my chest but today was crazy. I was walking out of my car and I had a really hard heart flutter where it felt like my heard pounded and flopped around in my chest for a few seconds and then stopped beating. Right after this happened my heart rate started racing and I become very scared. This cannot be normal. Just a quick background. I am a 22 year ole male and I have been dealing with skipped beats since I was 14 years old. I have been to 4 cardiologists and have had 3 echocardiograms, heart monitors, X-rays, EKGs, and Stress tests done. All of them say that my heart is perfectly normal but I cannot believe that symptoms like these are normal at all. Please does this happen to anyone else?
I am a 35 female and i have the same . Today I had a great day of relaxing , felt pretty good . Tonight laying down and my heart felt like it flipped flopped and stopped for a second . I had to sit up and cough and my heart started racing because it scared me . Cardiologist says my heart is fast but normal rhythm. Do you wear a smart watch and follow your pulse ?
Yeah, you anxiety is acting like an amplifier does to sounds. Your anxiety makes everything louder and more profound. You are not alone. Your fast heart rate feels more like pounding and you are way more in tune to it and what it is doing. So with the added focus your mind is paying attention to your heart, you are picking up on every beat as if it was a drum and paying attention to the tempo and how many beats its making. This is normal, if its not your heart, it would be some other body part you would be paying undo attention to, its how anxiety and worry works. If theres nothing to worry about, our minds convince us that there is. Just try to relax and focus on a good dream or past experience you enjoyed and try to keep your mind there and off your heart. You are going to be just fine, its just your mind playing tricks with you. You may want to think about anxiety medication if you dont already take it. It will really help.
