Turns out my colonoscopy showed I have pancolitis (aka total colitis). My doctor agreed I can reduce medication as my rectum area was cleared from the inflammation that was first there, therefore I do an enema every other night rather than every single night.
But I have recently noticed a few dashes of bright red blood in my stools. The blood is a very bright red and there is a minimal amount. My IBD nurse said continue as normal, but I wanted advice.
Is this a sign of my inflammation coming back? I am not constipated, if anything I am more the other way. Please help.

What enemas are u doing? I'm on salofalk and masalazine suppositories.
I've had blood on and off for two years. Sometimes bad with pain if flaring and sometime just a bit if I've been to the toilet lots it can be trauma like from the blood vessels if your straining or passing lots of stools. Do you have any pain?
I would just continue for next few weeks and see what happens try not to worry x
I have no pain when passing stools, and I am on mezalazine enemas.
When I'm flaring I get bad pain all the time not just when I'm passing stools. Everyone is different I understand u can still bleed when not flaring all part of our condition.
Inflammation goes up and down just keep on with the enemas, your nurse doesn't seem to worried so that's good x
My only help is to start isolating the type of diet you are taking. I would start by removing bread, gluten for 3-4 weeks and check results. Next isolate dairy products and do the same.
No one knows anything about food alergies. Not enough research is done.

I had the bleeding, then the steroids, and worse to me Asacol/Salofalk (melasalazine), I altered the water I drink to ones high in silicates, volcanic in origin, what a releif. I haven't altered my diet at all. It has, to me, got nothing to do with allergies, I'd say we are the unfortunate ones to be more prone to the effects of tap water.
Yes tap water is evil never drink the stuff and haven't for 8 years now! I wouldn't recommend changing too many things at once as that won't help u either just do it gradually x
I've changed to one high in silicon/silicates, and never had any trouble with UC, but go back on to straight tap, and it starts up again. Some water filtered through six layers of volcanic filtration! Instant redemption in my case. It works for me, hope it can help you too as I take zero medication, last time they reccommended vaccinations then go onto Azathioprine! I had found my solution by checking what they put in water. It works for me, try the water and see if it helps. Good luck! ;-)
