Pancreas area tender for 6 weeks, no severe pain

Hello,

I've been reading on the forum in search for matching symptoms but haven't found any so far.

I am a man of 33 years old. I drink 2 glasses of alcohol a day, don't smoke, not overweight, in good physical condition, eat healthy. The only medical conition I have is a hernia of the stomach sphicter, so I take Omeprazole daily for about 10 years now.

I've been having slight pains in the pancreas area for 6-7 weeks now. (On my) left of belly button, and left in my back. I am hesistant to even call it pain, it's more like a tenderness.

I've had an Amylase test 4 weeks ago which came back at '89' (very slightly elevated).

The feeling comes and goes. Mostly comes after consuming meat and/or eggs. Less so after eating bread and vegetables. More in the morning than later in the day.

I visited my docter again. He was surprised about my symptoms. He tells me when there is something wrong with the pancreas it's usually very painful. There is no bloating, no jaundice, and the organ does not hurt when touched.

I got another prescription to take Amylase, Lipase and some other values, as well as an echography.

Could any of you tell me anything about my symptoms please? I'm a bit anxious, reading the stories o this site. Could this be pancreatitis? pancreatic cancer? cysyts?

Waiting for your replies.

Hi Elwin,

I think the safest thing you can do is give up drinking altogether if there is a suspicion of pancreatitis. Add daily exersise, walking etc and see a specialist for a definite diagnosis. Trust all goes well,

Blessings,

Lesley

Hi, the best advice I have received is stick to no alcohol and low fat diet, that means only eat food with less than 5g of fat per 100g.its tough doing this but it really helps.I have cysts in pancreas and get pancreas pain and have managed to settle symptoms down by diet, exercise and no alcohol, hope this works for you.

Cathy

Hi Cathy, Lesley,

Thanks for you support.

For now it appears to be un ulcer instead of a pancreas problems: All blood tests came back fine, but I have an H. Pylory infection.

The back pain is either in the kidney or a muscle, but it's not the pancreas as I would feel that between the shoulders.

Thanks.
