Pancreas MRI results

hi everyone I've just got my results and wondered if anyone knows much about it. I'm aware this could cause complications such as chronic pancreatitis but not sure how common that is. my consultant appt next week. results below: No abnormality seen in the pancreas. There is a 3.5 cm duodenal diverticulum. No significant abnormality in the other upper abdominal viscera. thanks

Don’t quote me, but I think it means you may be prone to gallstones and bouts of acute pancreatitis.

"Duodenal diverticula are outpouchings from the duodenal wall (intraluminal diverticulum discussed separately). They may result from mucosal prolapse or the prolapse of the entire duodenal wall and can be found at any point in the duodenum although are by far most commonly located along the medial wall of the second, or superior wall of the third, part of the duodenum.

Diverticula located at the ampulla of Vater may cause difficulty for endoscopists as they attempt to cannulate the biliary system."

I admit that I’m not sure what it means, but I’m sure someone else does.

thanks for the reply. i know pancreatitis is a complication if it bursts. just wondered if that’s wat is causing the EPI

Usually the scan will advise additional testing if something looks really wrong.

The rest of your results are good. I think it’s worth a phone call to your doctor to get some clarification. I’d be interested in hearing what your doctor has to say.
