My dad was diagnosed with necrotised pancreatitis in January this year,he's been really ill with pain, infections etc he also had a drain fitted.he was discharged from hospital 5weeks ago and although he's doing ok,he's so fed up.he still gets quite shaky at times nd I'm wondering if this is part of the recovery process? He's been told to not make any plans for the rest of the year? Any feed back would be great
hi sassy.. i understand the situation your father is facing.. pacreatitis is sth which really needs attention more on what no to eat rather than what to eat.. i would say that the fat in his diet should be limit to fat free or very low fat... try to have boiled and always immediate cooked food for him... pineaple slices should be given to him as pineaple is best for stomach pain healing.. take him on walk after diets and also avoid being stressed ... dont worry too much.. its all about fat free diet.. he should take enzymes regulary with fat free diet.. and walk is best exercise always i believe.. the adivse not to make plan for the year is right.. because with this disease it is mandatory to take full rest.. and advised to walk only.. this is starting of recovery .. definitlely he will get well after some.. but as of now he really need to be focused on diet and have to be specific..
Hi,thank you for responding. Dad had his first check up last Monday @ the hospital, surgeon is amazed at how well dads doing....he needs to build his leg muscles as he's still a little unstable on his feet and he still has cramps in his side and back but overall he's doing really well....i asked about low fat diet and the surgeon said he's fine to eat what he fancys just in smaller quantities.....hes a basic eater anyway, doesn't do spicy foods.......so baby steps but at least hes heading in the right direction now......hes just a little impatient with the whole process.......
thats great.. hope he get well soon..
