Hi everyone
I’m three weeks on reducing from 10 to 7.5 citalopram. After having flu/pneumonia jabs 9 days ago was getting horrible side effects, mostly muzzy head and dizziness. Last night I had the worse pain in my head ever, neck ache, nausea that sent me in anxiety/panic attack. It was scary and I wasn’t sure what was happening to me, I became very agitated, heart beating fast, hot one minute then shivering the next, dizzy. I took pain killers and tried to calm myself down with breathing slowly, drinking water and distraction. I laid down in the recovery position and within 30 to 40 minutes I felt more relaxed and the headache and panic had gone. Sorry but feel better sharing this because I thought something really bad was happening to me.
I remember the panic attacks all too well
I haven’t suffered one since a month into my cit journey thankfully. I wonder if its worth speaking to your GP. Did you mention before that you haven’t had the pneumonia vaccine before? It could be a bad reaction to that and not the citalopram at all? I think we are all quick to place blame on the citalopram when we experience something new/different, I myself included. Hopefully you will come right soon ![]()
Hi Moaney
It was the first time for the pneumonia jab and I think you are right, it’s a reaction to the jabs not the citalopram. I was starting to feel better on my reduced dose until I had the jabs. They’ve really set me back. If I don’t feel any better after this weekend I will see my doctor. I was prescribed propranolol before to take alongside citalopram but I really didn’t give them a chance to work, I think I was feeling shortness of breath but it could have been anxiety. Maybe I need something more, I’ll see how this weekend goes. Still muzzy headed but not the same feeling as citalopram withdrawal muzzy head I’ve experienced. it’s so debilitating, I don’t want to leave the house. Thanks for your post, really appreciate it.
