My 5 year old inhaled bath water up her nose a few days ago and I am freaking out about that terrible amoeba. Idk what to do, I’m freaking out! Yesterday she complained about pain in her forehead and I gave her Tylenol and heard nothing more about it. This morning she said her neck hurt so I took her to see her doctor. The doctor gave her a neurological exam and said everything looks fine. I told her what I was worried about. She said her throat was a little red and her lymph nodes were a little swollen but her strep test came back negative. My daughter has been eating and playing, she was at the park running around. She’s acting like her usual self. I am freaking out so badly though, I want to cry. I’m terrified and my husband gets mad when I talk to him about it. I think I scare him which is understandable. But I’m ready to take her to the ER and have them look her over again and see if they notice anything. Please don’t judge me on this, I just need to let this out.
I am sorry you are so worried. Did the doctor give you a list of things to watch for?
Thank you Maria, this is an every time thing when she gets water up her nose. I know it’s really rare but the way my anxiety works I’m always worrying and my thoughts are always racing. The doc said if she has a fever that doesn’t go away with medicine. She hasn’t had a fever and she’s been eating and acting like her usual self. I hate this so much. Idk why I’m someone who thinks about these things and worries so much. It’s exhausting.
I had this fear. If no symptoms manifest themselves in 9 days, she is fine. Was it fresh or saltwater? And was it from a treated municipal? Stay strong, I more than I can say believe she will be okay!
I always get this fear whenever this happens! Then I hate having to wait the days out, praying my heart out she’s okay! Which is exactly what I’ve been doing and constantly checking her temp. It was fresh water and we pay for our water with a water company, so I take it it’s a treated municipal?
I was in the shower when it happened. I heard her coughing and asked if she was okay, that’s when she said she got water in her nose. But she doesn’t put her face in the water because she doesn’t like to do that. She said she was using her wash cloth to wipe her face off and she had her head back and some how the water went down her forehead into her nose?
