Hi, I am considering PanOptix tri focal IOL. I have searched the discussion forums but haven't come across any posts sharing their experiences with PanOptix or tri-focals in general. I'm guessing its not yet approved for use in the US and that may be why there aren't many comments re PanOptix. I live in Canada where it is available (and recommended as one of the options by my ophthalmologist).
I have reviewed some of the studies available on PubMed Health that compare various tri-focals (studies run my mostly EU ophthalmologists). The gist of these studies seems to be that all tris are similar although one of the studies ranks PanOptix slightly better at 66 and 50cm. Studies are great but without being specific, some studies may be sponsored and others don't have a large enough sample size.
I'm interested in hearing from readers of this forum who have had PanOptix implanted and if they could share their personal experiences. My specific questions relate to:
- contrast (how's your contrast sensitivity with and without glare?)
- halos (how bad are the halos, do the halos at night affect the quality of vision?)
- vision quality in dim light (one of the studies mentioned the PanOptix lets more light through to retina compared to some other diffractive lenses, what's the real-life experience in indoor dim and very bright outside light?)
- Brain time (how quickly were you able to adjust to the tri-focal IOL?)
- Complications/issues (did you experiences any post-operative issues?
Thanks!
