Hi I took vest tops and baggy bottoms so they don't irritate the scar a dressing gown towel and toothbrush and paste oh and enclosed slippers x Took my phone and some mags but to be honest didn't really read them as they have you up and about doing physio x make sure you have raised loo seat for at home and a grabber to pick things up with and roll up any rugs out of the way as trip hazard hope that helps good luck with the op and speedy recovery :-) xx

Thank you this has helps so much do you have to take clothes as I am more a Pajamers person as soon as I have took my little girl to school I am back in my Pajamers till its time to pick her up then back in them hahhaha lol...

I hope I have a speedy recovery as I am a slow healer and hate pain xxxx

Comfortable clothes to wear home . While in the hospital comfortably knee length gowns larger than usual underwear as to not be too tight over incision. I just had my cell and my stuffed kitty who looks just like my kitty at home so I wouldn't miss him as much lol. Best wishes hun

Baggy comfortable clothes are infinitely easier, phone and phone charger, easy read books, wash bag, mouthwash ( I didn't take mouthwash but the lady in the next bed had some and I kept eying it enviously, as cleaning teeth involves asking nurses for water, spit bowl, twisting to pick things up and it's complicated at first. )

My experiences of hospital have all been really positive, the staff are so skilled, and there is always plenty to watch if you don't have the energy to read.

good luck, x

Hi Bethannie,

Good tips !

I would have a nightshirt instead of pajama, darling - it is much easier to use  the toilet, or, heaven forbids, being put on the bed pan right after surgery ..

Comfy loose bottoms and perhaps t-shirts as it can be warm -

and snacks !!! and something you like to drink -

But you know what, don't make too big a deal about it - they can always bring it to you later ....

big warm hug

Hi, I took baggy tracksuit bottoms, tee shirts, knickers in a size larger than usual, dressing gown, toiletries and towel. Also take earplugs, the wards can be noisy at night and don't forget a grabber.

Best set of luck with your op. and speedy recovery.

Steph

My hospital were really strict that you had to get dressed every day. I took vest tops, shorts, joggers, and nighties.

Ano this may sound a bit odd but has anyone got a picture of there scars from the hip surgery... And can you chose between stitches and staples xxx

I do on my thread called update and storytime from a few days ago. But you arent having a hip replacement so scars and rules may be different to your situation

How do I have a look I just want an idea of what my thigh is gonna look like xxx

Go on the hip replacement forum and look for a thread called update and storytime. The pictures will be at the bottom underneath the text xx

Hi bethannie.....I ended up having to take a lot more stuff than I originally thought because the hospital I was at made us get dressed early every morning and be ready for PT....I took stretch type capri pants, nice and loose! Bought some larger loose underware, slippers which I ended up never putting on until it was time to go home because they made me wear the hospital type non slip socks. Of course toliteries and phones and personal items. Hope this helps.....Barb

The surgeon decides whether staples, stitches or glue is best for you 😥I was lucky mine used stitches underneath then glue so no staples to pinch and have to be removed . I asked him when I went for pre surgical eval what he used . Lesser stress
