Have endometrial cancer and had a radical hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. I don’t see my oncologist until next Wednesday; however, she already told me the morning after my surgery at the hospital that I would require chemo as well a radiation based on my surgery. Which doesn’t frighten me, I am a 9 -year breast cancer survivor and have had both treatments.
I have an app that shows my results, BUT it won’t show me the final results until after I see my oncologist. Although I understand their reasoning why they don’t reveal pathology on the app; it should be the patient’s choice in my opinion.
Based on my surgery findings, they have listed 3 findings at the top; which are somewhat informative; however, they are a bit contradictory.
Findings
- There was a globular cervix with no obvious parametrial invasion and no invasion into the vagina or into the anterior or posterior fornix.
- The sentinel node had delayed mapping on the left and unclear mapping on the right. No periaortic lymph nodes were identified.
- There was large volume disease into the left parametrium. Resection margin was wide of the gross disease.
So point #1 suggests there is no parametrial invasion; however, point #3 suggest there is parametrial involvement. So how do I know which one is correct? I’m leaning towards there being parametrial involvement, but which I knew for sure.
