Yeah.... it's happening. Not much in the empathy department, but at least they might be learning about self care, pushing for answers and who knows, being prepared for the future and what they may go through too in time.
It's 'my day' today, kids are away, housework on hold(well, at least for a few hours)while I read a book in bed with a hot water bottle and a caster oil pack and a loving cat asleep beside me.Funny turning to pets for understanding and love when you have to tip toe past moody teenagers..
How do you all survive that lack of empathy?Or do you have understanding partners and children who might even help out?
Oh YA..that never happened. In fact, my daughter who was 17 was actually mad at me for not feeling like her normal, entergetic, happy mom. She was a real stinker about it all. My sons were fairly clueless. And my husband (now ex-husband) was a real jerk about it.
They were all completely clueless, and not any help at all.
My daughter is 17. I think over the years I have done to much for her. I'm giving her lifts here there and everywhere. If I ask her to help with the dishes there's a moan. She doesn't help around the house. Kids these days are constantly on their phones,it's so annoying. Times have changed so much in the last 20 years. They are all the same I'm sure. When I was in my late teens I was always out but now kids seem to stay in on social media 😔
Fairhaven...what do you use the castor oil pack for? I use it for my fibroids....and yes it is tough when you don't have the support you need. God bless
It's the anger that radiates off them when i interrupt their communicating on their phones that makes me long for when they were little ,whispering together "somethings wrong with mum, lets tidy up and make her happy".
I'd pretend not to hear the furtive scuttling from my room and act surprised when they brought a cup of tea
Hi Cathy,it's for simple ovarian cysts..I'm trying to shrink them. It's turned into a bit of self pampering now,I like the heat of the waterbottle and putting my feet up too
Does it help with the fibroids? Can it reduce them and /or take away discomfort?
I've heard that it can shrink them...I too apply heat with the castor oil pack...my gyn wants to do surgery to remove them....I'm trying the castor oil pack...before jumping in to that.
Hi Fairywren, my children are both adults, but they still live with my husband and I. I am lucky in that way. I don't do anything for them except cook when I feel like cooking. They both work, and live in their own worlds, Thank god. But I still have to constantly explain to my husband why I am so irriatable, tired and just not feeling good a lot of times. Men just can't fully understand the changes we women go through.
I kind of think I have to keep reminding my husband just short and sweet if I can that the time of month is coming up and that I'm going to be more sensitive and maybe teary ,any issues are going to be more amplified because of my hormones.I think they can keep forgetting because they can't relate to it maybe.
The pulsing in my neck makes me tired, but I have to watch how many times I remark about it with the kids as forget .
