Partial knee replacement

Hi I'm 12 weeks post op and was wondering does anybody get pain after walking, it starts not long after I start walking ,I then start to limp. Also should I still be taking pain meds as if I don't it's painfull . I don't use a stick anymore because I feel guilty for still having to use a stick.  After sitting I also get a sharp pain when I first start off, does anyone else have this problem .

Can't really help I am only 3 weeks post TKR and still have pain but I would speak to the Dr, I have been told it can take 6-12 mths for everything to settle.

No such thing as a "guilt zone" in the recovery program as long as you are still working toward success. Your body will be your advisor, don't let someone else's guidelines be yours. I've known people that have been on and off their cane for over a year because of their personal comfort level.

Keep up the good work and be kind to yourself, you have suffered enough without making yourself out to be bad guy..

YES, I had and actually still have the same issues.  Walking was still hard for me at 5 months...for walking down the block type of walking.  Now in the colder months and 9 months along I continue to have pain and trouble walking further distances.  I use a cane as needed and pain meds as needed...your not alone at all!!

Where do you get the pain? I got pain at the back of my leg which was worse walking downhill. Turned out to be mainly caused by a tight piriformis muscle (in the buttock) and a separate issue from the knee. I'm still suffering but it is getting better and walking is much easier. Doing specific exercises for it. Jen 23 weeks (I think!)
