Hi all, I am looking for answers. I am experiencing the same issues or even worse. I had Partial Knee replacement in Dec, well over 3 mths and still not able to walk independently. I am still using croutches and walker. Saw my Doc several times. No infections. CT normal. Some neuropathy. I was advised to stop going to PT but will restart now. I am looking for answers. I was referred to a neurologist. I am thinking of a 2nd opionion. My knee feels funny like there is something loose but CT shows no lossening or fracture..takes a lot of discomfort to get to at least 2 inches off the bed. He is not able to give me any answer for that. Instructed me to return to PT. Wondering if scar tissue would cause this. I am concern about swelling of legs and ankles when I try to weight bear. I am not able to lift my knee/legs I am looking forward to some response/answers. Thanks.
Hi liz i had a partial done in January. My only concern is the tightness and stiffness. Not had any physio since the week after I had it done. Was just told me to keep up with the exercises. Feel sometimes I need to talk to someone about the niggles I feel. Was told by the consultant at my six week appointment that at that time i was walking with a limp and may have to be operated on again, i do feel i have improved but as yet I have not had a follow up appointment. I need the other one doing but I don't know about having it done. Hope you go on ok.x
Thanks Susan, I am glad o know that you are progressing well. The ost important thing is to keep exercising. I was stopped by my Doc because I was having so much pain. Think I may have been pushed. It's agonizing not been able to walk independently aftr surgery.Defies the purpose of surgery. I am starting PT this coming week again I am hoping for relief. Not even able to drive. MT Doc said last week I can but scared to have any further set backs at this time. Good luck!!
Oh Liz, I feel so bad for you. Yes, scar tissue has a big influence on your mobility. Even though you stopped PT you should still continue with your exercises at home. Another important thing is to ice, ice, ice. Icing helps with the swelling and inflammation. Work on your exercises to loosen the scar tissue behind your knee. This will help with your
extension/straightening. Then ice!!
Good luck, honey. It's hard work, but if you want to walk without aids you have to persevere. I'm almost 7 week out from my surgery and know it's
tough but you can do it.
Susan, you're only 3 months out from major surgery. Do
exercises to loosen up those muscles behind your knee. It's not easy... I know this all to well. Walking with a limp was my
greatest fear so I worked & worked on my straightening
exercises and finally was able to get the leg straight. Ice is your friend too....as often as you can. Hard work and determination
pays off. Good luck! 😊😊😊
Hi Liz - when you had the surgery did the anesthesiologist give you a nerve block? I was given a nerve block and I could not raise my leg. The PT person kept telling me that there were something wrong. My knee gets to 110 and then it goes back. At one point I had it at 116. Don't give up keep doing the exercise. I have pain everyday and I am post 6 months. J21370
Thanks J. I had general and I'm sure they also used a nerve block It's just frustrating that at 14 weeks, I am not able to walk independently. I am restarting PT tomorrow nd looking forward to what they have to sayI continue to do my exercises. My pain is when I weight bear I feel a lot of pressure and if I gry to lean forward, get electric shocks. I am praying for some relief but the truth is nerves take long time to heal..LIZ.54071
