I was diagnosed with rectal cancer one year ago this week. Spent the first three months of 2019 in treatment. Was diagnosed with Diverticulitis in May. Thankfully the antibiotics helped clear that up. But I still have frequent pain around my navel. I had my first post treatment checkup in October (everything looked fine). Except, the doctor said I had a really bad fissure and said I should have surgery. Which I did, at the end of October. A month later, I had a fever for several days and after blood work done and a urine test, I was told I had a UTI and prostate infection. My PSA was fairly high. Was put back on antibiotics which immediately dropped my temperature. The last two days, I've seen a lot of mucus in my stool. I felt I had to go to the bathroom once and just passed gas, which was nothing but a huge blob of mucus. No blood. And the mucus is clear. I'm out of town for a few days but plan on seeing my doctor about this. Should I be concerned? I've Googled this and it said it could be a number of things. But given everything I've gone through and all the tests and scans, wouldn't something else have shown up if this were serious? I read that fissures can cause mucus too. But this much!? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Don’t google symptoms; the best place to go for answers is your doctor. While there could be any number of reasons for the mucus, given what you have been through, you should get this checked. It may be that the surgery and drugs you were given, has disturbed something.
Hi , of course get it all checked out ,but its probably infection coming out , drink plenty of water ,this will help flush you out .. You are concerned about the amount but have you noticed when you have a cold or sinus infection the drainage seems endless ?! Do you ask yourself where all that coming from your nose comes from lol ?
