hi, ive had some patches appear and disappear on my tongue for the past 7 months. they come and go and usually get worse with alcohol. iv had lots of tests done and all normal, except i was a little low on iron. im having a gastroenology done on monday so will see what happens then.
but does anyone know anything about this?? is it an allergic reaction to something? any help would be great thanks
Have they mentioned geographic tongue at any of your visits?
I have my own tongue patch that I can’t seem to get a definitive answer on, biopsy showed inflammation and thickening of the membrane but nothing serious. Mine could be medication related, I’ve stopped my antibiotics and the area is still there but faded. ENT told me to live with it for now unless it bothers me or I develop other symptoms. I may have some other test performed. Going on 2 months.
thanks for the reply. i have read quite a lot about geographic tongue, it makes sense but it just baffles me how it appeared suddenly. ill speak with my specialist before the gasto on monday and hopefully get some answers and will post back here.
i have read online that Crohn’s disease can cause similar symptoms. hopefully i will have that ruled out on Monday.
