My surgery was 11/27 /17. Had rectocele, urocele, and laporoscopic hysterectomy, but kept my ovaries. I am 54 years old. My question is: should I be experiencing more vaginal and abdominal pain now than in the first 5 days? I helped rake leaves Saturday 12/2/17. Could I have popped or ruptured a stich? Spotting was heavier on Sunday, but has since gone back to very light spotting.
Nancy, you had a very complicated surgery. Your doctor should have provided you with post-surgical care information. Internal stitches can take up to 6 months or longer to heal. And, you shouldn't be doing anything like raking leaves, or even housework.
Give yourself the time you need to heal property; your body needs it. I suggest you go back to you doctor and make sure you're okay. Your body only has this one chance.
You've definately over done tasks. The extra pain at this point are s common due to internal sutures from the repairs tightening. It can be worse than initial post-op period. So hopefully it's that & you haven't done any damage. You shouldn't be doing anything much at all other than making a cuppa till after 6wks. Lots of walks are fine, but not for too long each time.
Will call him in the morning and tell him what I did. If he wants to see me then I will absolutely go and get checked. The raking didn't hurt me at the time. I hope things are okay.

I suggest that you don't do anything that will strain your body for at least 6 weeks. Following hysterectomy I did no lifting or hanging out washing, vacuuming or any such activity. I had absolutely no complications. Consider the advice that you were given for your post-op care to ensure the best outcome. Light spotting is not uncommon in the early days but I wouldn't expect it to continue nor it to be heavy. All the best. Lyn
Surgeon just called me and said that the movement involved with the raking probably shifted things and that unless I experience heavy bleeding he does not need to see me. He also said that the increase in the pain I am having is normal because the nerves are growing back.
Believe me when I say that I will not be doing anything for the next few weeks. Responded to Lyn a few minutes ago and explained what the surgeon told me when he called me back this afternoon. No need to repost it. Thanks for your input and help!
That is excellent news! Thanks for letting me know. I am relieved for you! I am going to be having abdominal surgery after the first of the year, and while I'm looking forward to having it done, not looking forward to the pain part at all!

I told my doc that pain and I aren't friends, but with the surgery a week away we'd have to be on speaking terms. He had a good laugh. You'll get through it. Keep in mind that the pain won't last forever.
