Pelvic mesenteric mass and low blood sugar - hypoglycaemia

Hoping someone may be able to throw some light on this as healthcare professionals don't seem to know how to treat this.

Taken into hospital as in a great deal of abdominal pain - distended abdomen and low blood sugar.  Had CT scans and Xrays and have been advised that a mass close to the pancreas. Waiting to have a biopsy to see what the mass is, but in the meantime, my blood sugar levels keep dropping dangerously low.  Hospital staff keep giving me foods and drinks to bring up the sugar levels but after a while they drop again.

It seems that may be sent home once biopsies taken and am very worried that will end up back in A&E due to blood sugar levels dropping again.

Wondered if anyone else has any information about this and/or advice?

Hi sareylou1

Your pancreas regulates your blood glucose levels by releasing insulin. It may be your pancreas is not functioning properly at the moment. I doubt you will be sent home until your blood glucose is normal. Just relax and wait for result of biopsy.....

Hello

That is what the hospital have said, but one day it was that they wouldn't discharge until everything sorted (as much as it can be) and now they seem to be prepared to discharge once biopsies have been taken.  I hope that they will regulate the blood sugar levels before I leave hospital.

Hi sareylou 1

I am sure they will not send you home until your blood glucose levels are normal, or send you home with medication to keep it normal. They will not leave you to your own devices with a very low blood glucose level....they will make sure all provision is made for your well being....
