Is a pelvic tilt a result of a THR or is it something that a person has always had? Thanks in advance!
Either .... can be as a result of the surgery, or a difference in leg bone lengths before surgery.

My legs were the same before surgery. Afterwards, my op leg was longer. You've been such a great help--thank you so much.
My operated leg was longer after surgery too. Doc explained that the measurement against the pelvis is exact. The difference in leg length is 3 things. First your opposite leg probably has lost some height from OA and cartilage loss too and that creates a difference of about ⅛" I had knee replacement on the same leg as my hip replacement a year ago but still need my other OA knee replaced, another ⅛", then you could also still have some internal residual swelling that will eventually come down. I am still left with ¼" difference, it was 1/2" until all the swelling inside came down after 3 months, but once I get my other knee done that should come down to ⅛". He also told me my right hip is almost as bad as left that I had done. It does not hurt yet but if it eventually needs replacement I should be even once again. If my. left knee had not have been an emergency from a fall and torn meniscus and cartilage as well as OA, I would have been better served to have done the right knee and left hip so I did not get a leg discrepancy. In the meantime I ordered little rubber ¼" lifts from Amazon. I even use with sandals, a tiny piece of double-sided tape under them and they work great and do not show. Some shoes, most athletic wear, you can pull the inside sole up and put the lift under it. Works fine. I do limp a bit barefoot though. I understand why I have the problem and right knee is definitely going to be done next year. Doc says I probably won't even notice the ⅛" difference then. I think I might but I have solutions.

Thanks Peggy, I wondered how that happened. I'm glad to know. Thanks again and good luck with yours.
hi dana,
It is possible, Dana - just have a look at the anatomy of your body and look where the hip joint is located ... The hip joint was forcefully removed and replaced with hardware --- this probably affected your pelvis -
How are you doing otherwise?
I hope you feel better ...

Hi Peggy, can I ask you how soon/long after your op you started using the heel raiser? I am 9 weeks post op and have 1cm discrepancy in my leg lengths. I have started using a heel raiser but not sure if it's too soon and I am doing more harm than good.

Renee,
I don't know how I'm doing, honestly. Going on 8 months now, I am still in constant agony. The only thing that gives me any relief at all is a ted hose. I don't know why unless it is because my knee is so messed up, torn meniscus, from the surgery. PT didn't want to work on it any more because they were afraid it might make it worse. However, my hip feels messed up, too. Thanks Renee.
I started using it about the same time as you are now, however my surgeon said there could be swelling causing some of the difference for 3 to 4 months. He suggested using a riser slightly less then I needed to compensate for that and at about 4 months see if I really needed the riser anymore.
Thanks for that Peggy, it gives me a better idea. I will use a smaller one for now just in case. Thanks so much for the info. Take care and hope all goes well for you.xx
Don't think my reply will be of much help. Over the years my pilates teacher and physios have pointed out that i have a pelvic tilt. Mine is due to the second reason you give. I have always had one leg longer than the other due to a longer femur. My THR has added another centimetre and I am currently trying out heel lifts before I get my first pair of shoes adjusted through splitting the sole. I know you have some dreadful problems which I am sorry to read about. I hope there is some help soon.
Thanks Sylvie,
My leg was not longer until after my thr. I just wonder if it will cause any problems now? Thank you, again.
I am so sorry Dana -
even though it can take 12 - 18 months to totally heal from THR (or maybe a bit longer, it depends) if you are in constant agony , please have your self checked and find out what causes this - Maybe someone can take you to a doctor to get a 2nd opinion ...
We are laymen here, darling and you need a medical based explanation ...
