Hi everyone,
I recently noticed some pretty 'classic' herpes symptoms and my lab work is pending... I'm trying to decide if I tell past partners about it now or wait the, potentially 7 days, to get the results..
For the back story...
So... I recently went on a Tinder swipefest...
Mid-end of June I went out with/slept with partner A. He had just separated from his wife of 10+ years. All was well and then just out of the blue he ghosted me. I assume he may have reunited with his wife, whatever...let's move on.
I did an at home STD test (all negative including HSV2) and went back to swiping. Met/slept with partner B beginning of July. Again, recently out of extended relationship. (Note- he did have a bump on his lip that almost looked like a cold sore but said he'd burned it a few weeks prior. We were not exclusive, and the relationship was starting to dwindle....
Enter partner C on Sunday. He is a friend of a friend I ran into while out. We slept together Sunday, but used condoms but did have unprotected oral sex. (Note- partners A and B were unprotected)
On Saturday I had started feeling kind of crummy, and suspected I was getting a cold/flu, which partner B also had a few weeks prior.
On Monday I was very sore, but assumed this was from the 'rougher' sex had on Sunday. Tuesday evening it starts to burn when I urinate and it felt like I had torn my anus slightly with a BM.
Wednesday I wake up and notice 3 sores, which by noon has blossomed to about 15+. I had a horrible sore throat and body aches and ended up connecting with a Teledoc. I explained my symptoms and showed photos of the sores and they told me to urgent care/planned parenthood and have then swabbed as looked like HSV.
Off to urgent care I go, and the NP there agreed most likely HSV, swabbed the sores and did a full STD panel and also ran culture on my throat as she thought that might be mono.
They indicated that the results from the swabs would likely take 7 days but rx'd antivirals and antibiotics.
Partner B already knows of my symptoms as we were going to hang out and I cancelled (I couldn't even get out of bed yesterday I felt so sick) and explained what was going on.
Should I reach out to partners A and C also? Or should I wait until the test comes back? My concern, of course, is that either could've given it to me (or it could be HSV1 and I had it before etc.) and could theoretically have new partners before they're back etc.
Any insight/thoughts you'd care to share I'd really appreciate!
Thanks
