Pericarditis and ectopic heartbeats

★1

I recently had what I would say was the flu.  I was knocked off my feet for two weeks and ended up having to go to a&e to be nebulised as I couldn't breathe. I was then diagnosed with pericarditis. I was told to take ibuprofen 200mg three times a day. Well this didn't do anything and I was back In A&e in a lot of pain and told to add 325 asprin to the ibuprofen. This is helping but hasn't stopped the pain. Also when the pain starts it triggers lots of ectopic heartbeats which In turn are causing severe headaches. Once I take my next dose of ibuprofen it stops. Can anyone advise if they have had any of these symptoms and what they do when their medication is starting to wear off. I don't want to overdose on painkillers.

I think you should concern with a good heart specialist. He will suggest whether you should take pain killer or not. You may know that overdoses of pain killer can damage your liver. That will not fine for you. Ibuprofen increase coronary blood flow. Indomethacin reduce coronary flow and less adverse effect than ibuprofen.

If you still feel pain then you should concern your doctor again. NSAID s are the best treatment for pericardities. Most of the patient recovery by taking NSAID ( The drugs you are taking non steroidal anti inflammatory drug) .So alternative drug can take for better performance.

Best wishes for your remedy.

Thank you.

Every time is go to the a&e department I end up seeing a general medic as opposed to a cardiologist.  My worry is that something awful is going in In my heart and no one is taking any notice.

i think you should see a heart specialist. i was diagnosed with knee pain which later turned out to be RA. But before i was diagnosed, i was given a painkiller to take two times a day and it really affected my breathing and i started having high gas and acidity which hurt my chest so much, i thought i was dying. so according to me, you might have a heart condition but most likely its the affects of painkiller. as i said, they create extreme gas and acidity which in turn put pressure on the chest and in turn cause chest pain.
